I am currently eating lunch and then my grandfather and i have to go to Home Depot to get another sheet of wood to be able to finish the side job we're working on.

- @Totalanimefan: We are stealing work from Closet World and doing closet shelving for our neighbors daughter.
She's got three closets that need done and they asked my grandfather to do it.
He agreed to here we are. lol

- @Totalanimefan: I can get by, but my grandfather was a carpenter/wood worker his whole life, and so was his father before him.
I just know what he's taught me.
Debated on trade school myself, but a woman in a construction job?

I think that's cool. Woodworking is one of my fav trades. It's just amazing what people can make.

There's this gorgeous hutch in our dining room that holds all my grandma's china and crystal dishes and shit, he made it.
My mom has a couple old bookshelves that were part of an entertainment center he'd made over 30 years ago.
He made something similar to this for one of my neighbors daughters for her wedding.
And, back before he retired, he and the company he worked for did the West Hollywood Library ceiling.
@Anarchist Beauty: Wow that's amazing! I love furniture and how the right use of wood/woodworking can really change lives and a space. So many unique and necessary designs come from woodworking. I have a dinner room set that was built by an Amish family that had been doing it for generations. It's beautiful.

Yeah they really are. My parents were born and raised in PA (I was born and raised in FL). So I feel like I know got the inside scoop on knowing how good there stuff is.

I just want to see exactly how they live, what they do.
Like they let their own go out into the world for some time, I want a weekend Amish experience.
Just because I KNOW I will never be able to live like that myself, but I might be able to survive 48 hours. lol
@Anarchist Beauty: I know that you can visit, but you can't live like them even if it's just for a weekend. You could spend a whole day there and most are happy to explain how they live and some have shops were you can buy food or goods from them. I would say go for it. It would be an awesome experience.
