When I drink I tend to go with stouts for rich after tones, ales for early tones with a smooth finish and porters for when I want to just get plastered. I don't do the last one often.

Omg I just remembered of something I found out about not to long ago. It's a bottle filled with vodquilla. Mix of vodka and tequilla, for when you want to wipe the slate clean.
