Forums General Chit-Chat Has anyone ever been kicked by a horse?

Voltie — She/Her Posted 7 years ago ( 2018/03/2 17:14:37 )

I was kicked by a horse that I've been taking care of for a while now. She has a damaged hoof from her previous owners but I still have to clean the junk out of her hooves in case there are rocks so she doesn't get an abscess. I was trying to clean that hoof and she kicked me in the leg. Yes it was painful and I cried for no reason but then I was like SUCK IT UP BRI, YOU'RE EMBARRASSING YOURSELF. It stings like HELL and it hurts to walk. It's gonna hurt to take a shower. I just put ice on it, and I should have as soon as it happened. So, ya has anyone experienced this before?

I haven't, but a friend of mine has, at least twice. This last time, she got trampled and is still recovering.

@Totalanimefan: I don't think it's that serious.
@onsenmark: oh my goodness, I hope she's okay! That sounds awful
My feet have been stepped on twice by the same horse, Patches, the same one that kicked me. Idk y she hates me so much lol

Yes, several times. We had a few horse in high school and they hated my guts. A small horse was alright, but I'm sure that the 3 big black horses wanted me dead. I've been kicked, bitten and one hit me with its head against my back. The result was a few broken ribs, several bruised ribs and a bruised spine.

@Tuijp: Oh wow, you had it bad! I only work with two horses and I'm not even really sure what kinds they are, I know one is a Tennessee walking horse.

That sounds so painful.
I personally have not experienced that, but my sister cares for and rides horses and recently the one horse slid in mud down a hill and they both went down.

@Tuijp: oh geez I'm sure that's not true
@Pandora: oh wow, yeah there's a lot of mud too so they roll in mud lol
My leg is a lot better now but still hurts a tiny bit

When I go near horses, no matter how calm they are, the moment they see me, they go nuts.

I think if you’ve been kicked by a horse you have a reason to cry. I can imagine that hurts! I work in the hospital and I’ve actually taken care of a patient that got kicked by a horse in just the right spot and fractured her leg. The healing time on that injury was no joke. Horses are beautiful creatures but they are ridiculously strong.

@RainbowPanda: She's fine, more or less. She's still recovering, though, but she can get up and about. Within reason. :vanora_sweat:

@llyr: oh wow luckily mine isn't too serious, I'll probably have a bruise tomorrow tho, who knows and I won't be able to shave til it heals which sucks >.< And it started hurting again, whenever something touches it like when I put it on my bed to turn over onto my right side it hurt like crazy.
@onsenmark: Well that's good!

@RainbowPanda: yes and it can sometimes leave a rather nasty in color bruise to.
how are the colors looking if you have a bruise from the horse that kicked you?
is it a front hoof? best not to stand in front of the horse or
behind try more off to the side if you can.

@RainbowPanda: I’m glad it wasn’t more serious! Hopefully you have a quick recovery and it doesn’t bother you for too long.
