@Tuijp: My reaction is more along the lines of "This IDIOT hurting me is hurting me for my own good, this is for the betterment of my mouth health. Don't punch the person poking around with a sharp stabbity implement at your sensitive gums. It isn't worth it."
I just hate the dentist because of sensitive gums, how much it costs, previous bad experiences with past dentists, and sharp stabbity bits near my mouth make me uncomfortable. /:
