I'm not sure if the starters themselves are shiny locked though, as I recall when Sun/Moon came out many people were just sitting at the start of the game trying to get a shiny starter

There are just so many different pokemon other there now days, my cousin showed me how many different pokemon there are now, and it just blew my mind away.
