"Well, Evan's glad that he helped the agent, but he's not sure if what he did will help him put another professional foot forward." Lindsay responded. "He was a shoulder to cry on, someone to vent to. Which can be enough sometimes, but he feels a little like this doesn't really show what he's truly capable of." he went on.

"But whatever Sharp wants to talk to Evan for, I can only hope the news is-" he started to say, before they were interrupted.

By Evan. From inside the house.

"YEEEEEEE-HAW!" his excited tone rang out.

"...good." Lindsay finished.

"Welp, that answered THAT." he laughed.

Lindsay was about to say something, when Evan rushed out towards them, but quickly slowed down when he saw their smiles and knowing looks. He walked the rest of the way, looking sheepish when he was close enough to talk.

"...guess you heard that, huh?" he asked.

"Just a little." Lindsay responded with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I have a position there as the resident, in-house psychiatrist." Evan confirmed.

"Congratulations." Lindsay said.

Evan paused for a moment, thinking about it.

"Well... I mean, I had always planned to move out of the house." he told them.

"And I think it'd be better, red tape-wise, if I lived near the place I worked. Just so ALL potential bases are covered." he went on.

"Makes sense." Lindsay interjected.

"But I'll need to speak with Blair about this." Evan then said.

"He's a big part of this decision, and if he doesn't want to, or is uncomfortable doing so, then further discussions will be required."

Evan nodded in response.

"Awesome, thanks." he said.

"I'm going to call Blair right now and tell him about this." he told them.

'You do that." Lindsay responded, before Evan rushed back into the manor.

"...really hope Blair is all right with this." he said.

"Seeing Evan living in San Diego and working for the Unit? Hell of a career."

"All we can do is wait and see." Lindsay responded. "...all we can do, is wait and see." he repeated, shaking his head slightly. "For now, let's celebrate." he then said with a small smile.

It seemed that things were going just right for Evan suddenly. Not only was Blair more than eager to move to San Diego with him, but he was excited for it as well. And to top it all off, with the help of Sharp (as well as the signing bonus Evan received), the two of them were able to find a nice place to live that was only a 15 minute drive from the Unit, itself.

Now, overall, the process took a few months, but it was done a lot more quickly than people expected. And Evan had his own large office in the Unit, just down from the medical wing. He looked at his name on the frosted glass window of the door, and smiled a little.

"Time to get back to unpacking." he told himself, stepping inside and closing the door almost completely, but leaving it slightly ajar, unbeknownst to him.

He was also unaware that at that moment, Kiah was headed to the medical wing.

The one she had been looking for had NOT stepped out, and he opened the door, seeing her and smiling at first, before looking concerned.

"Hey, Kiah." he greeted her.

"...you all right?" he asked.

"That arm... uh... well, the fact that it's in a sling is not good." he commented, noticing her new medical fashion accessory.

"Something happen?"

Evan recoiled slightly from the hit, and then looked at her confusedly.

"Huh?" he asked.

"Uncle Ash said-" he started to say, before he paused, and sighed heavily.

"Uncle Ash said that he told you, and then last minute you contacted him to say something came up and couldn't make it, so you arranged transportation for me." he said in a bit of a monotone voice.

He then pinched the bridge of his nose, and grumbled.

"Seems he wanted this to be a little bit of a surprise and a minor prank on us BOTH." he continued.

"I swear, sometimes I think I'm just as naïve as Dad is..."

Evan ruffled his hair a little where she had smacked him, and nodded.

"Yes, I would love that." he told her.

"I've been wanting to meet him for a long time now." he admitted, before the two stepped out of the room and he closed the door behind him.

"I have the next day or so to finish setting up, so there's no real rush." he told her.

"But... ugh, I guess I'm like my Dad in SO many ways." he went on, shaking his slightly, and then pausing.

"Though I've been told that's why I'm good to talk to. Because I'm honest and earnest." he added.

"...yeah, fair." Evan responded.

"I'm here for you as family, though." he then said. "Like, if you ever just want to vent or something, off the record or whatever." he then stated, thinking about it for a moment.

"Maybe I should allocate a block of time a day for that." he mused.

"I mean, allowing Izea to do that, use me as a vent wall, got me the job here." he reasoned. "Apparently, according to Agent Sharp, she had a glowing opinion of me." he told her.

"...and a not-so-glowing one of the on-call you guys previously had." he then muttered.

"But perhaps I can have an hour or so a day where people can just come and vent. Sometimes that's all one might need in the heat of a moment."

"I can easily provide that." Evan responded.

"I just want to help in any way I can here." he told her. "From everything I've heard, proper access to a mental health specialist has been... adequate at the very best, to be charitable." he commented further.

"So if I can-" he started to say further, before a door they were walking past suddenly opened.

It wasn't hard or fast or forceful or anything, but it was headed towards him, and he had been walking towards IT.

So when they collided, he was sent stumbling back with an exclamation of surprise and mild pain.
