"I'm... not sure, admittedly." Lindsay replied.

"I know he's due back any day from a hunt, but I'm not sure if he IS back yet. It's entirely possible he's downstairs and hasn't let anyone know yet." he told her.

"Come in, come in." he then said, stepping out of the way.

"I'll check to see if Ash is home."

Hazel nodded.

"All right then." She said.

"I'm going to grab myself a drink, if that's all right?" She asked, stepping past Lindsay a bit so he could close the door. She kicked her shoes up as he answered that it was cool, before heading to the kitchen, but he headed to the basement.

"....." Lindsay was silent as he went to the basement.

'Already, she's... different...' he thought, as he reached the closed door to Ash and Ashley's bedroom.

He knocked on it, waited, and then knocked on it once more.

"Whaaaaaaaaat?" he heard his brother whine from behind it.

"Hazel's returned." Lindsay responded.

"WHAT!?" Ash then exclaimed.

"Ash, get dressed." Lindsay commented, hearing his brother's footsteps. "She's upstairs, and I will be, too. Meet us in the den." he told him.

He then made his way back upstairs, seeing Hazel making her way to said den, having grabbed a drink.

"He'll be up in a minute or so." he told her.

Hazel nodded as Lindsay said what he did.

"al lright then." She said.

How have you been since we last spoke, anyway?"[/b] She then asked after a moment or two, her voice honestly curious

Lindsay just smiled as Hazel asked her question.

"Pretty good." he told her.

"I've had some more successes with my patients, and Samantha is growing like a weed, not to mention her exercise regime has made her very healthy." he commented.

"And Evan is... well, he's as energetic as ever." he then chuckled. "His necromancy is some of the strongest I've seen as well." he added.

"How have you been doing?" he then asked her.

"I've been wondering that for a bit now, but wondered if it would be right to try and impose myself in to find out." he admitted.

"Busy." Hazel answered before shrugging.

"Better than being bored, though." she dmitted.

"And of course the kids are as they are. I wouldn't expect anything to change in a matter of year." She added.

"Oh, I do actually have a phone if you want the number?" She asked

"Of course." he said.

"I'd love to have it." he told her.

"And you seem to be doing quite well." he commented.

"You're like an entirely different person since we last saw each other." he said further. "Being at the Unit seems to have done wonders for you."

"Well, it's only because you set the groundwork." Hazel commented honestly.

"If you hadn't set such effective groundwork, then I'd probably still be a lost cause." She added with a light shrug.

"Anyway, any idea how long til your brother gets up here?"-

Lindsay just chuckled sheepishly.

"Well, I did what I could." he said.

He was then about to answer her question about Ash, when the man himself showed up.

He was wearing tattered jeans, a tee-shirt with buttons on it, that was opened up at the front... and that was clear to see why. One of his arms was in a cast and sling, and he was covered in remnants of wounds, some of them seeming to have been grievous.

"Emelie forcing you to take some downtime after the hunt?" Lindsay asked.

"Yeah." Ash replied. "Apparently surviving and defeating a Thorn Wyrm is grounds for recovery time, and not a quicker heal." he said, before looking at Hazel.

"Anyway, hey." he greeted her. "Long time no see."

"Yeah, been awhile." Hazel agreed before pausing for a moment.

"But then again, that's not surprising. You're often not home, really." She added.

"Anywho, I did stop by for a reason." She said before withdrawing a couple of envelopes from the bag that she had with her, that counted as her purse. She held one out to both of them.

They were particularly thin, though. Almost seemed empty.

"Hm?" Ash responded, taking the envelope handed to him.

"What's this, now?" Lindsay asked, taking his envelope as well.

They looked at them for a moment, before Ash shrugged.

"Suppose we should look." he told her brother.

"Would be rude NOT to." Lindsay agreed.

With that, they opened their envelopes, and inspected their contents.

When they looked into the envelopes, they each saw a cheque.

Lindsay had a check for ten grand.

Ash had a cheque for fifteen grand.

"A cheque?" Lindsay asked. "And for a rather substantial amount, as well." he then commented.

"Yeah." Ash agreed.

"What's up with the payments?" he asked Hazel.

"Did we loan you money or something?"

Hazel shook her head.

"They are my way to say thank you." She stated.

"Ash, you get more than your brother... strictly because you found me."She added.

"But really, they are just to say thank you, nothing more."

The brothers looked at each other, and then back to Hazel.

"This wasn't necessary." Lindsay told her. "But we appreciate it, nevertheless." he said.

"For sure." Ash agreed. "The fact that you seem to actually have a personality to call your own is something we all wanted." he told her further.

"I'll let Ashley know how you're doing whenever she's back from HER hunt." he added.

"But for now... let's all catch up in more detail." Lindsay suggested.

"I'll make up some of my famous iced tea!" Ash smiled, as he went to do so, and Lindsay just looked at Hazel, pleased she seemed to be free of Vanessa's remaining influence.

She was silent as she made her way through halls. She had no idea what it was that was going to come of this, or even if he'd take her seriously regarding it, but she knew that she had to check and try at least. If nothing else, there could be someone that was in trouble, and she wanted to help them out ... if she could. However, she knew that it really wasn't a guarantee. All she had found, after all, was just a post that had been posted a few times (and repeatedly deleted) on a conspiracy mana board she liked to lurk on. It gave her some interesting information, even if most of it was false.

She was sure this wasn't though, and she didn't even know why. What she did know, was that this woman likely needed help, and she hoped that the thumb drive she had with her was enough reason for him to at least look into it. Thankfully, his door was open, but he was also getting ready to leave.

"Hey Dad." She greeted with a wave, surprising him.

"I did not expect you to be working so late. Everything ok?" She asked, glancing at the clock. It was just past half two in the morning, and this was slightly unusual for him.

He looked over towards her, and sighed heavily.

"Hi, sweetie." he greeted her affectionately, as she was his adopted daughter.

"And... things are just hectic." he then said.

"My receptionist is moving extremely soon, so I need to find a replacement. She's working half-days now, to prepare for the move and such, but that means my workload has increased for the time being." he informed her.

"Hopefully not for long." he added.

"What brings you HERE, anyway?" he then asked.

"Stressed? No." he said. "Tired? Kind of, but I've been worse." he then said.

"Also, I MAY take you up on that, even if it's just a temporary fill." he added, shaking his head a little, and then sitting back down in the chair behind his desk.

"So sure, I'll take a look at something." he said.

"What?" he asked. "What is it you wish me to examine?" he asked further.

"Must be important to come here at THIS late hour."

"I really do think it is." She answered before stepping up to his desk and holding out a thumb drive.

"This has everything. Links, screenshots.... even the results of me tracing the IP address." She told him.

"I don't know if there actually is anything going on, but I'm reasonably certain there is. Please, take a look. Someone keeps getting their posts deleted and they haven't signed on again for over 48 hours." She continued.

"I actually think they might be telling the truth."
