My landlord has a karaoke night out of nowhere sometimes and it's until 2am. Not helpful when I have to be in bed by 9 sometimes.

@shark: Exactly! You can just blast your own music or wear headphones or w/e It's manageable.

OH! OH! You can be cheap like me and just play white noise sounds + a fan or something.
I usually just drown out the noise that way.
If it's really bad I use the AC + air fan thing + white noise sounds.
