"....who knows how far that will spread?" Lindsay then asked.
"I mean, the magic in that book is pretty localized stuff. It generally doesn't travel." he told her.
"However, I believe that it only robs one sense at a time in people." he continued.
"But after so long... the magic in that book must be in great concentration." he then reasoned.
"How far will it spread out?"

Vicki just sighed. She had no idea what it was that she was supposed to say here. There was no way to know how far the concentration would be.
All she knew, was that it was localised to the city for the moment.
"And there's always the chance you're wrong, that it's a case of it actually being a different book than what you think. If it is, then we could be in some serious trouble." She added.
"I can't know without seeing the book, but getting in there won't be easy. As far as I know, Alice has Evan kinda on lock down because of the book."

"Well, it's understandable." Lindsay responded.
"But we'll need to know more about that book..." he mumbled.
"If only I could see it." he said.
"Get an actual LOOK at it." he went on.
"Regardless, I'll keep looking for information here." he told her.
"The monks told me of a hidden and sacred monastery with texts on matters older than... well, Vincent." he said. "There will surely be answers there." he reasoned.
"Perhaps even a way to COUNTER this."

"The book is older than Dad, so very possible." Vicki agreed with a sigh.
"It was put into the protected section of that demolished library by someone that predated Dad and Aunt Hollie's recent generations." She added.
"The book is freaking old. I can't believe it got lost in that move." She then growled before sighing.
"I'll let you know if I can find any information on the book, if I can get in there TO see it." She added.
"All right?"

"We'll keep in contact if any new info comes into either of our hands." he said.
"For now, we just need to keep cool heads... if possible." he went on.
"...Evan..." he then mumbled.
"He's unconscious, but who knows what's happening in his mind..." he wondered.
"He was at ground zero when this magic was released, after all."

"That's what concerns me." vicki admitted.
"And if it is the book that is the reason for this recent msense loss?" She asked, but didn't wait for him to say anything.
"It's possible he's still unconscious because his nervous system is being overloaded with the magic, not even mana." She then said. "Which is aboslutely terrifying, there's no way his body can handle it."

"Magic was something so powerful, it threatened the lives of those that wielded it." he said.
"Eventually, people were forced to seal it away, just so they wouldn't be entirely eradicated." he went on, before she heard him sigh audibly.
"We'd better work as fast as we can." he reasoned.
"The longer any sort of magic has freedom in this world, the worse off we'll be." he said further.
"Any magic can upset the natural balance, and chaos will ensue."

"So you get back to what you were doing. I'll get back to what I was doing as well." She added.
"I'll call if there's anything else." was the last thing she said before they ended their call, leaving them both in silence on their ends.

After a few seconds of silence, there was a knock on her office door.
"Excuse me, Ms. Fyrane?" the curator of the ancient tomes asked.
"I've been doing some more research on the book you requested me to." he told her.
"And I've found out some new information." he continued.
"Are you busy right now?"

I don't think I can ever heal,
Ever replace that hole your death tore in me.
Ever replace that hole your death tore in me.
Cold sweats, hallucinations // I wanna scream to show
The hell I'm going through // The addictions taking you.
Vicki paused before looking toward the door. She wasn't busy, not really. She'd just be looking for more informaiton, and he had some, then it would relevant and perfectly all right.
"Enter!" She called as she sighed and made her way back to her desk instead of the bookshelves she had lining the walls.
She was definitely curious as to what information he may have, and hoped it was something useful.
Can you see me through bloodshot eyes // Should I fight for what is right or let it die?
Now I'm choking on force fed lies // Do I fight or let it die?
The hell I'm going through // The addictions taking you.

A few seconds later, the door opened, and he stepped inside.
He closed the door behind him, and made his way closer towards her.
"Hello again." he greeted her.
"I've had to do a lot of digging." he told her.
"All I've managed to find is the history surrounding the tome." he went on.
"While I am unsure as to how helpful it will be, I felt it substantial enough to warrant reporting."

"I could use any sort of information, definitely." She added.

He sat down in front of her, and sighed.
"Apparently, that book is like some sort of religious tome for some old-world druids." he told her. "And we both know what I mean when I say 'old world'." he added.
"Regardless, apparently these druids were part of an order. Or... a cult, bu today's standards." he went on.
"And they worshipped a god. A god by the name of Gnyx." he then said. "Apparently this was a god of pain and suffering." he told her further.
"And the book was supposedly one that contained the secrets for... well... appeasing their deity." he said, pausing for a moment, allowing her to interject.

Vicki just sighed lightly, not knowing what to make of that information... or not wanting to admit that her nephew was likely on the verge of death.
"All right, that's god to know, makes me want to ring everyone's necks for those involved with moving the books and leaving that behind." Vicki commented.
"But I do have to ask.... what kind of secrets? Like how would they apepase?"

"....various ways." the man replied.
"Electrocution, stabbing, any way they could inflict pain as long as they could, before the subject couldn't take it any longer, or died." he continued.
"However, that was just physical pain. They also practised torture and agony of the mind." he said.
"Says one of their most effective mental torturing methods was to rob the subject of a sense. Usually, one that was the most precious to them."

"Well, that jives with what's going on back there." Vicki commented.
"All right, I gotta figure out how to cancel all this, because ... really? I don't think anyone wants this magic to spread and get a bit out of hand. I mean more seriously than it already is." She added with a light sigh.
"Happen to have any information on that? Or do I need to start a search there? Shouldn't be nearly as difficult."

"Well, there WAS another sect that worshipped the polar opposite of Gnyx." he responded.
"If we can find THEIR religious tome, it may offer some answers as to how to counter what's going on." he told her.
"Beyond that, I have nothing." he then said.
"My apologies." he lamented.
"If you like, I can try and find information of this other tome." he then offered.

"Something tells me it'll be about as easy as trying to find a living member of the Gormogon sect." Vicki commented sarcastically, before sighing, again.
"And you? Either look for more information on what this tome has within, and possible counters, or look for info on the other one." She told him simply.
"Me, I think I need to go and check that book out myself."

With that, he took his leave, and she was alone again.
She had more information, but not much to do with it.
At least she knew what she was dealing with. That was something, at least.

Vici just sighed before getting to her feet and making her way to the door. She locked it before shaking her head lightly, grabbing her staff, and vanishing from where she was.
She appeared in her sisters office at OLA, knowing that she'd be along shortly, but also knowing that this wouldn't go the best.
She hoped that Alice wouldn't be busy for a moment to give her a chance to give the information.
After a bit, Alice did come and return to her office, but it wasn't quite as expected.
She returned, and nigh on collapsed onto the loveseat. Vicki was at her sisters side imediately, before trying to help.
About thirty minutes after that, she was on her way to the head of the hospital, determination in her steps as Alice followed behind with her staff to help guide her.
Vicki knocked on the door, and waited, knowing that there likely wouldn't be too long before she was granted acess.
