Hmmmm....
Well, nevermind the shadow for the moment (I have no complaints to it being removed. Shadows aren't a requirement for me and don't make or break a thing, anyway)

But... what about a double border of only a couple pixels each? One of a light purple and the other of a dark blue?
That way no matter which, it'll stand out? (At least that's what I would do myself, but I has ZERO eye for this kinda thing. Lol.)

It literally has a border of 4px for one colour. Then a border around THAT of 4px for the other colour.
As you can see, it's visible on all. The lighter, because it's got the darker, and the darker because it's got the lighter.

If you can't do that, I can. It's pretty easy XD
(And no, I don't use layer style things from PS)

Do you want to know how I do it? I dunno if GIMP (... iirc you said in the past you use that one...? I may be wrong) can, but I'm reasonable sure any of the art programs can (... probably not paint though, lol)
