"And yes, never thought it would come to this." he admitted.

"But that's just how things go, I suppose." he sighed. "Discovered a cousin, found out I have something of a conscience." he went on.

"Even took that wind attack for her."

"Doubt that sprout would have survived anything from Pin. He had ridiculously strong mana. Was somoene that I'd considered as a possible person here in the Triad years ago, once I found out he had some fae genetics." She paused here.

"Anyway, point is, I have an offer for you."

"In essence, you would end up being someone that those that are under the Triad's jurisdiction can go to whenever they need help." She paused a moment.

"The hospital you are working at is already one that works with us. You'll just be on call for when we need someone of your.... specializations."

Rene was silent as she said what she did.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"Be an on-call doctor for you guys, and that's it?" he asked her.

"I admit, that's better than I was expecting." he told her.

"...then again, I was expecting the death penalty." he added with a laugh.

"Heck. Sure." he then agreed.

"Keep doing the underside stuff you were doing before, but you'll go through us for all your supplies." She told him.

"Just because I'm really starting to feel dehydrated here." he told her.

"Wellc,e come on." She "Well, then come on." She stated as she unlocked the cell.

"Let's go. Got a few things you need to do first." She added before completely freeing him from the cell - chain included - before walking off, expecting him to follow - along with knowing he would if he had a brain.

Rene was silent as he was completely freed, and sighed as he started to follow her to wherever she was going.

"...tell me..." he muttered.

"My cousin..." he said. "...how did you find her?" he asked.

"One would think that she would have been killed by now, or off doing her own thing, being unstable and berserk, due to her volatile DNA mix." he reasoned.

"How did you find her, and get her to join you?"

"Honestly? She was causing problems." She started, "So the Triad picked her up. She needed someone to watch over her, as she looked to be no more than a child, and my son needed someone to keep him straight." She added.

"So I took her to him, and she's been living with him since. Long and short of it, it means that she was willing to work for the Triad once the option became available."

"I see." he said.

"That's... well, I admit, I didn't expect to hear THAT." he admitted.

"So what you're saying is that your son and my cousin ended up helping each other." he commented, before sighing a little, in relief.

"...good." he said.

"I'm glad she's doing all right for herself."

"She gets into a lot of trouble, of course, but she's doing all right." She told him as they reached what counted as her office.

"Sit." She stated as she grabbed something from a shelf.

"There's... a lot of paperwork to go through, but this will give you a lot of allowances. I'd rather not see someone with your ... skills... locked up, to be honest. I'd prefer to make you useful."

Rene sat down, and sighed once more.

"I'm no stranger to paperwork." he told her. "Being a doctor, I always have paperwork shoved before me, and it's annoying." he said.

"And I have nowhere to go." he went on.

"Well, not without becoming a fugitive." he then muttered.

"Also, you flatter me." he said further. "It's quite the honour to have one's skills praised by the Head of the Triad, herself." he continued.

"Especially when she's quite the sight for sore eyes." he added, which caused the woman to merely roll her own eyes.
