Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!

So, I had a pipe burst inside my house last night, around midnight. Since then, I have been informed that we will be without a place to live for 3 weeks. The ceiling has collapsed, and we have flooding damage from the heating unit / pipe bursting flooding the upstairs and causing the ceiling collapse.

My life currently sucks.

The only silver lining is that my work gave me a day off work to deal with insurance and finding a place to live.

We’re all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

Wow that's awful! =( Do you own the house or is it a rental? I know how much those kinds of repairs cost.

@Priestess of Pie: We rent. Our landlord is handling all the repairs, but it's going to be about 3 weeks before we can move back into the apartment. Luckily, we have rental insurance, and the repairs aren't costing us anything personally. However, not having our own place to live right now ... this isn't going to be fun.

Well at least someone else is footing the bill. It definitely sucks to be out of a home, but at least it's only temporary. With the roof and everything it's probably looking at well over $10k worth of damage. x_x Hopefully nothing irreplaceable was damaged.

@Mellonin: I am so sorry to hear that. I hope none of your electronics got damaged in the flooding. Those can be really expensive to replace.

@SirLionelNigelConrad: My renter's insurance wants $500 upfront for the hotel stay, and they will pay the rest. i wish I had $500 to throw around like that!

@Totalanimefan: It would be $175 a week for 3 weeks, and even that is too much for us.

@SirLionelNigelConrad:
@Totalanimefan:

I only know two people who might be able to help, and that would be $250 from each of them - my father, and my grandfather. And that is waaaaay too much to ask.

Here in the darkness I know myself

Oh wow, I’m so sorry that’s a rough spot to be in.
I know it’s hard to ask for money from others.
Sometimes it’s neccessry if you can’t stay with a friend.
Can’t break free until I let it go.
Let me go..
