His shuffling and movement had roused Ryker, and the man looked at Eke left the tent.

"Eh?" he muttered.

"The hell?" he asked himself.

He then got up and poked his head out of the tent.

"Hey!" he whispered loudly.

"What's up?" he asked Eke, not wanting to interrupt him in case he was just going to 'answer nature's call'.

He stopped and stared at the sky.

Eke felt a calling. An ancient calling.

The call of a dragon.

Through the fog he knew he had to fight it. She he just stood there, staring at the sky from the forest floor.

Ryker silently followed Eke, staying back a bit, before stopping when Eke stopped.

He looked at the boy, and then to where he was looking... the sky.

"...hm?" he muttered.

'This gotta do with that dragon earlier?' he wondered.

"...hey." he then said quietly.

"Yo. Kid. Y'ok?" he asked Eke.

Eke didnt answer.

His eyes were glassed over, his slit pupils now even more thin.

The call was becoming too much.

Eke finally walked out into the open field. Into the snow covered field.

He didnt have a jacket, or even shoes on.

"Woah, woah, WOAH!" Ryker then exclaimed, as he dashed after Eke.

"Hold on there!" he said, stepping in front of him.

"I'M the suicidal one here." he told Eke, putting his hands on the boy's shoulders.

"Come on, now. It's friggin' cold, and you're underdressed." he went on.

"Snap out of it, kid!"

There was a roar from above. A shadow in the clouds.

It flew off seemingly thwarted for now.

Ekes eyes returned to normal and he fell into Ryker.

"Where...how...how did i..." he asked softly feeling drained. He shook his head coming out of his fog.

"The sound...its gone..."

Ryker looked in the direction of the roar, and growled a little.

"Come on." he said.

"It's cold." he told Eke, lifting him up in his arms.

"And you're not dressed to be out here." he continued, as he started to walk towards the tent.

"You were following a call... probably a dragon's."

"Yeah...its a dragons call...i vaguely remember it.." he eyawned.

It was at this point he sneezed.

His sneezed came with a little extra...a little extra fire that was.

It ended up catching ryker's sleeve on fire. Eke begun trying to put it out and gave a sheepish smile.

"sorry" he said with a small giggle.

Ryker smirked when he saw Eke put out the small fire.

"Well then!" he said.

"That's a little handy thing." he told him.

"Firebreathing is pretty cool." he complimented him as they made their way to the tent again.

"And no worries." he went on.

"My clothes have been through a lot worse." he chuckled.

"Actually i cant really breathe fire. Inflames my throat. Makes it sore" he blushed a little

He jumped down and sat on his bed roll sniffling.

"It only happens when i sneeze" he stretched feeling a little better, if a bit cold.

"Im sorry for that...back there...but...its bound to happen again." he sighed and ruffled his hair trying to make it less of a mess, and only succeeding to make it more a mess.

"Oh, I see." Ryker replied.

"Fair enough." he said.

He then sighed as he watched Eke try and fix up his hair... and fail.

"Oh, come on, now." he said, grabbing a brush out of his bag.

"At least TRY and do it right." he told him, as he started to run the brush through Eke's hair.

He blushed but smiled.

"I was never good at doing my hair" he said with a smile.

The way ryker pulled a brush through his hair was much more soothing than the way his mother always did it.

"So...where do we go today?" he chirped.

"Good question." Ryker replied.

"I suppose we can just keep heading in the direction we were initially going." he said.

"I've heard there's some good towns we'll come across." he told him.

"I've also heard that there's apparently a small forest seen as a very safe and serene place." he then said further.

"Like a haven or a preserve or however you want to call it."

"Why do you bring up a forest?" he raised an eyebrow.

It wasnt that he didnt like forests, but they seemed a little stuck in one right now and a town would be nicer.

"How long till the next town?" he said with a blush as his stomach growled.

"Woops looks like its breakfast time" he said sheepishly.

Ryker just shrugged.

"Spend most of my life in them." he said.

"Well... my non-slave life." he clarified.

"You can find shelter in them, find food, they provide it all for you. Plus... I never really managed to gel with society..." he then admitted. "Because of the adjustment from slavery to freedom being a jarring one, as well as... other... reasons..." he said further with a light cough, gently thumping his chest with a fist.

"Next town's about a day away, give or take." he then told him, before looking at Eke's stomach.

"And whaddya want?" he asked.

"Meat" he smiled.

"Or fish" he nodded. He did something a of a little dance.

"Did you know a dragon CAN survive on only fish? well, normal dragons anyways. I think i get a bit of a pass on that huh?" he smiled despite the self deprecating content.

"But yeah protein is good." he streched his wings and yawned.

"Protein, eh?" Ryker asked.

"Hmmm." he muttered.

"I think there's a stream nearby." he said. "I might be able to fish something up." he told Eke.

"As for now..." he mumbled.

"I still have some beef jerky for you to snack on." he told him.

He then dug into the bag, and pulled out a handful of the jerky, handing it to the younger male.

"I mean..if you want big fish" he grinned.

"Big fish?" he asked.

"....you've intrigued me." he said.

"All right, you're on." he told Eke.

"Show me what kind of 'big fish' you can catch."

"Show me the way to the river" he chuckled and put on a jacket and shoes.

"No point in getting sick again right?" he said as he tied his shoes.
