Ryker held back the laugh that threatened to escape his lips, which merely came out as a few violent coughs.

"All right, all right." he said as he started to follow.

"For serious, though, we'll need to pick up supplies in whatever town we land in next." he told Eke, changing the subject.

"At least another tent or something." he reasoned.

"Last night was beautiful for sleeping outside, but we're getting close to that time of the year where it'll start to get bloody cold out when it gets dark." he added.

Why can't I just be

"Its call winter. But...your right" he nodded.

"Somethings been...bugging me about the stand off...from a week ago" he frowned.

It had been too easy to make the elder back off. It didnt make sense.

He jsut just a black dragon, and he had been smaller than her. Younger, less powerful.

So...why...?

Ryker looked at Eke, and shrugged.

"Maybe they decided it wasn't worth the effort?" he suggested.

"Maybe they were bored of the chase? Or... like... I dunno." he admitted.

"I just know that if another one attacks, I'll fight it." he told him.

"...whether I want to or not."

"I'm just a whelp. there was no reason not to put me in my place...it bothers me" he sighed.

After some time he sat down. He hadnt said anything he just suddenly sat down.

The air had turned chilly and the sky and clouds dark.

His golden eyes scanned the dark clouds that threatened the nice day.

Ryker watched as Eke sat down and looked at the sky.

He, too, looked skywards, and scanned the dark clouds.

'...this happened REEEEAL quick...' he thought.

'Is she coming back?' he wondered, shaking his head a little.

"Eke, you all right?" he then asked.

"I dunno yet. Smells like another storm." his eyes never left the sky.

He closed his eyes and gave a few good sniffs.

"Still...no sign of an elder yet..."

"Hm." Ryker muttered. "I see." he said.

"Well... that's good on the elder front..." he said further, looking towards the sky again.

"...these clouds still came in pretty quickly." he mumbled further.

"We should seek shelter somewhere." he told Eke. "It looks like it's going to be one hell of a storm to get caught out in." he said further, now scanning for any place that would offer refuge.

"Not yet. Im still searching." he opened his eyes.

"Besides ive been thinking..." he frowned.

"I know ill never be able to be a warrior...but" his teal brows furrowed some

"I need to be able to defend myself and that means being able to use my dragon form without risking a heart attack" he shook his head.

"I cant be dependant on people forever..."

".........." Ryker was silent for a moment, before looking at him.

"So, what are you saying?" he asked.

"Are you telling me you want to try and transform right now?" he asked him. "Because that might not be a good idea, considering you still have stitches in you." he reasoned.

"But... if you mean you want to acclimate to transforming, I suppose I can understand that." he went on.

"And I know what you mean in terms of wanting to be more independent." he then added.

"Not a full transformation. Baby steps" he got up feeling the wond.

"I can start with my hands or something. Im not dumb"

He looked at his hands and just stared.

After a bit, his nails enlongated to pitch black claws.

Ryker blinked a couple of times when he saw the claws start to grow.

"Woah." he said.

"Woah, that's... pretty cool." he told Eke.

"Those things look like they'd do some nasty damage." he commented further, looking at them more closely.

"Could really slash and pierce someone with those."

"I...i did it" he was beaming.

After some time his clawws detracted and he looked exhausted.

"Shouldn't be surprised, I suppose." he then added.

"How ya feeling, besides obviously tired?" he asked, looking around.

"Think you need to rest for a bit?" he asked further.

"There's a few places were we can duck outta sight and get some cover."

The rain began pouring down.

Eke sprung to his feet as he heard the roar. It was deep and loud.

"WOAH!" he exclaimed.

"Holy hell, that was sudden!" he commented.

"....but... um... was that... hm." he then mumbled.

"That... wasn't thunder earlier, was it?" he asked.

"Storm dragon.probably an alpha" he turned to ryker.

He hugged ryker. They couldnt run forever

"Go...ill handle it..ill catch up" he smiled gently, the rain hiding his tears.

"May I ask what you mean?" he asked Eke.

"Because you CAN'T mean for me to leave you behind." he said further.

"What happens if you don't catch up?" he asked.

"I get left alone. And... well... quite frankly, I've grown too attached to you to go back to that." he admitted.

"If you intend to face this dragon, then I'm fighting as well."

The way he said it made it ovbious that he had meant to go back home with the dragon.

He wanted to run forever. He wantes to stay with ryker. But he didnt want ryker to get hurt.

Hed rather take the fall.

Ryker gritted his teeth as Eke said what he did.

"So be it." he said.

"If you intend to give up, then I'm staying and fighting." he told him, cracking his knuckles, as dark energy started to swirl around his arms.

"Maybe they'll finally be able to kill me." he said further.

"Maybe I'll beat them." he went on.

"Either way, suppose it works for me." he shrugged.

"No! No please! im not giving up! but i cant run from her forever!" he cried.

They didnt have time to argue about it anymore.

With a thunderous shake, the silveer and yellow dragon landed. His growl was low but there was a smirk in his eyes.

"Clever of Raiya" the dragon chuckled. "I learned something very interesting about you boy" he circled the two of them.

Eke was unsure what he meant. "She never even told her own son about his true heritage" the dragon laughed. ekes eyes went wide. Was the dragon bluffing? was it a ploy to get eke to go with him? Or was it the truth?

The stand off with the elder dragon bothered him deeply. And he didnt know a thing about his father.

"Come with me quietly and ill tell you the truth on the way" he growled as if to audibly smirk.

Eke looked to Ryker and thought. his brows furrowed as if thinking. There were unanswered questions. But eke had to grow up. Had to stop depnding on everyone around him.

He looked up and simply ysaid "No." A look of determination on his face. He was ready to grow up. He was ready to be his own person, despite only being 14.
