Sharp nodded in response.

"Jake?" he then said.

"Of course." Jake replied, pressing a button.

"In ya go." he said.

Sharp nodded in response, and he and Peyton made their way through the doors.

"Don't worry about Jake." he told her after the doors had closed.

"He's a bit of an ass, but he wouldn't dare hurt you or anything like that." he assured the girl.

Sharp had no visible reaction to Peyton's face reveal, but he DID look at her ears.

"Yep. Fennec." he said.

"Would you care for something to drink?" he asked her.

When Peyton nodded, he opened a small fridge that was behind his desk, but suddenly stopped.

"Wait..." he said.

"Just how old ARE you?" he asked.

"......hm." Sharp mumbled.

"Indeed." he said.

He then handed her a bottle of soda pop, and sighed as he shut the door to the small fridge.

"Now." he muttered.

"How about a little more backstory, all right?" he asked.

"Perhaps... well, let's start with why you are the way you are." he then said. "If you know, that is."

"Hmmmm." Sharp mumbled, thinking about it.

"Well, even though something like that is extremely rare, it is not outside of the realm of possibility." he said.

"Fair enough." he said further.

"Now..." he went on, leaning forward.

"How about some story as to why you need my Unit?" he asked.

"I obviously know the vague reason, and you gave me a little peek into it while we were in the car, but I would very much like to know further details." he said further.

"If you are uncomfortable telling me, I will understand, but I DO like to know about the people that come to me, asking for help." he then reasoned.

Sharp remained silent, so as to be respectful to her as she told him her story. He then leaned back in his chair, and shook his head slightly.

"Yes." he said.

"Humanity has... some catching up to do." he told her. "The world is changing... evolving... and yet they still have trouble accepting things that happened so long ago, let along newer developments." he continued.

"Mostly out for their own personal gain and greed... it sickens me, to be honest." he went on, his voice starting to have venom to it, before he cleared his throat and brought himself back to the present.

He made a mental note about what she said about her parents, though, wanting to return to it after a fashion.

"Another question." he said.

"How did you even FIND me?" he asked.

"I take GREAT care to cover my tracks, leave next to no information in my wake. Yet you say you've been living on the streets for the past month." he said further.

"How long have you been looking for me, and how did you manage to track me down?"

"........" Sharp was silent for a moment, and then smirked lightly.

"Interesting." he said.

"Now... about your statement about your parents." he then said further.

"Can I assume you still have a good relationship with them?" he asked her.

Peyton nodded in response.

"Do you happen to have their number?" he asked her.

"And would you mind if I called them right now?" he asked further.

Sharp accepted the paper, and nodded.

"One moment." he said to her.

He then dialled the number, and waited for it to be answered.

The ringing went on for longer than expected, and just as he was about to hang up, it was picked up, answered by a woman with a soft tone, but with underlying stress.

"Yes, hello, am I speaking with a Mrs. Carter?" Sharp asked.

When she responded in the positive, he smiled a little.

"I wish to talk to you about your daughter, Peyton." he told her.

"You're very good at reading people." Sharp complimented her.

"I wish to speak with you and your husband about Peyton's future." he said.

"I would go into further detail, but quite frankly, that's best done in person." he went on.

He then proceeded to give her the address of the Unit, before pausing as she said she was writing it down.

"Do you think you and your husband can make it here? Preferably as soon as possible?" he asked her.

"I'll see to it, that you have special permissions to get past front door security."

"I will have someone there to escort you to my office." he told her.

"See you when you arrive." he said.

With that, they ended the conversation, and Sharp looked at Peyton.

He pressed a button on his desk phone, and she heard it ring, before she then heard Jake's voice.

"Yeah, boss?" he asked.

"Miss Carter's parents will be joining me in about a half an hour, and I wish for you to be ready to recognize them, and receive them." Sharp replied.

"Peyton, would you mind giving Jake a description of them?" he asked her.

Peyton nodded, and proceeded to do so, taking only about a minute to give all the necessary info.

"Got it." Jake responded with, before Sharp ended the call.

"Your mother sounds like a sweet lady." he told her.

Sharp just sighed in response.

"I understand." he said.

"You're very noble to protect your parents like that." he told her.

"But I think they'll want to be here for this." he continued.

"At the very least, you three can see each other in a safe space."
