@Kira:
I can appreciate a good ghost movie! but I don't watch them as much.
you know my preferences - u-/

anything you'd suggest to a bou for ghosty spook movies?

@milkdaddy:
same tho.
You know, i think the Hellraiser Franchise is the only one I haven't really touched among all those old eighties classics lmao.
I do enjoy the aesthetic of the cenobites tho, i'll be honest.

Gotta love nightmare on elm street. 8,D

I do not like horror movies.
Mostly they just freak me out, give my anxiety and my sister's friend kinda traumatized me
when we watched them for her birthday when I was 10.
I was not prepared.

My preferred genre is usually many genres but here
are the genres I like.
Fantasy, sometimes sci-fi, romantic comedies, animation, thrillers and dramas.
Though with dramas I can be a bit picky.

My preferred movies I'd say are Studio Ghibli movies like Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's delivery service, etc.

@MoodyBats:
completely valid.
what did ya'll watch anyway? if you don't mind my asking, lol. o .o

it's a mood tho. when i was young, i would have rather chugged vomit than watch scary things.
I had a similar experience at a friend's birthday party when we were all like 8 or 9?
My friend decided it would be fun to watch Carrie in her basement and we were all huddled on the basement steps.
Her brother decided it would be fun to hide under those very steps and grab my ankle during a jumpscare moment.

we all ran for the hills and there was a ten child pile up at the doorway.

fuuuuck dude, I LOVE Ghibli movies. ; A;
Spirited Away was the first one I ever saw and then in highschool i had a friend who owned just about every Ghibli film.
Her goal was in fact, to have them all. xD

@Vermii: remake of the fly and child's play.
and to this day cannot stand seeing any images of child's play.
It just triggers fear in me and i still kinda get night mares of it so yeah i am not made for horror movies lol.
especially relating to dolls.

Kiki's delivery service I think was mine
but my memory is of a goldifsh so I don't exactly remember.
I am just more for fluff type of movies.

@MoodyBats:
BRRRUh, Child's Play was one of the first ever horror movies I saw a kidlin also!
It scared the fuck out of me as a kid and it got to the point where anytime i saw a doll, I'd scream and cry. xD

my mom had to hide all the dolls i had and if i ever stumbled on a hiding spot, all hell would break loose.

Ironically, now a days, the Child's Play franchise is among my top faves!

It's funny how these things tend to change and differ in people as you grow older lool.

But I feel you, I know everyone has their preferences!
And yeah, Ghibli is definitely good for fluffy! I think my next fav is Howl's Moving Castle.
Still get that theme stuck in my head even now. lool

@Vermii: though i also get scared of those goosebump movies too.
so yeah i don't really do well with things that scare me. :vanora_sweat:
I will never watch another child's play movie ever again.
I normally have to be off of my social media around halloween because
in my explore they pop up on instagram. x. x

Studio ghibli movies always inspire me to work on my
artwork and their soundtracks are so beautiful.

@Vermii: Ehhh I just can't really justify buying them.

Zombie stuff is pretty cool, and so is psychological stuff. I guess I like more crime thrillers with a sense of horror? I thought Nightcrawler was really good...

@Bioshock:
Yeah, no I totally get that with some movies too.
Demon Possession movies and gore porn are DEF not my thing.

ooh! I remember seeing Ginger Snaps at a young age! It was a fascinating watch. xD
Yes! Psychological thriller/horror is a really fun genre! I especially like it when things get a little/very surreal.

Oh, that's super cool that you have a friend that does that! I'll have to check that out.

If you're interested into finding similar stuff, there's a Youtube Channel called "Dead Meat" known for it's horror movie "Kill Counts" series and also the Dead Meat podcast, where the lovely couple who run the channel discuss different horror movies, as well as harmful/dated tropes in the horror genre.
Today they released a podcast on transgender "representation" in horror and how badly it tends to get handled.
They have a trans guest on for the topic as well! A lovely lady.

I saw Get Out in theaters! And yes, it was pretty good! I will agree to that. xD

@Shark:
Mood tho. Whenever i watch movies, i see them in theaters and watch 'em once or i find somewhere to watch them online loool.

I don't think I've seen Nightcrawler. O:

@MoodyBats:
Yo, ok. As much as I was a tiny coward as a child, the Goosebumps show and books were my jam as a kid. xD
Except for Night of the Living Dummy. I hate that one. That one did indeed give me nightmares lmaooo.

Ooof, yeah that's fair. I think you'll have to watch over the summer time then cause there's a Child's Play remake set to release in June i think??
So, heads up there lol.

Truuu! There's a Ghibli Minecraft server that me and my friend explored. INCREDIBLY DETAILED
They had the whole damn Spirited Away Bath house and town and even the little town Chihiro and her parents were moving into. You could literally go into every house!

@Vermii: yeah my sister's same friend all had everyone watch
the night of the living dummy.
I was so scared but her cat comforted me so I just pet her ears and she would purr
and made me feel a lot better.

But yeah I loved the books. I loved the 23rd street?? ones.
I think that is what they were called.

Yeah I heard about it in October about it x. x
Not looking forward to that.

Oooo nice!

I think the only horror movie I watched in theaters was War of the Worlds? I was like 8 or something. xD I thought it was really good though... it was like the loudest thing ever.

I would give anything for you to shine down on me

I like horror movies, but i jump easily and i will have trouble sleeping due to anxiety before bed and nightmares for the next week or so, so i have to space them out. my favorite type of horror film to watch are like psycho thrillers and supernatural ones, but if it's just a ghost, i don't really enjoy it cause they rely too heavily on jumpscares and music. I'm good with gore, just not distorted bodies.

I was actually find with clowns until AHS season 4, I saw the first episode and couldn't go further after the clown with part of its face gone.

@MoodyBats:
gotta love cats! lol

I remember i used to have a whole collection of goosebumps books
have no idea where they could have gone cause i sure as hell don't have 'em anymore.

yeah, i can imagine lol.

@Shark:
i still have that movie! one of the few i own. xD
i always found that one very fascinating- and yes, loud. lmao. But i always thought the tripod noises were super cool.

@Bioshock:
yikes. yeah, there are movies i stay away from if i know there are graphic/detailed scenes of sexual assault and what not.
i can't stomach that.

o lord, it's been so long since i've seen the ginger snaps movies. I should check them out again. xD
I remember the first one more than the second one tbh. although i'm pretty sure I've seen them both.

Us is another one I've been meaning to see!
i have a small collection of movies current and up and coming i need to see. ; u;

@milkdaddy:
I think i might just check the first one out!

Cannibal Holocaust i think is one I've purposefully avoided just knowing what kind grief went into making that movie. Not in a good way either. x .x

@vengeance:
oh! anything you'd recommend? i've seen a few J-horrors in the past, but i'd like to find more stuff to get into.
not necessarily Japanese either lol.

@Deaa:
yeah, jumpscares aren't very fun. =/
i do appreciate a movie that can build up an atmosphere and give you the spookies without jumpscares. 8,D

I've never seen an ep of AHS but I think I know what you're talking about lol.

When it comes to gore, it really depends for me. if it's very unrealistic, exaggerated body horror kind of things, i think it can be kinda neat.
but if it's too real then I just can't lol. Also, as long as it isn't a blood-fest every scene.

@Dezorbo
That the one with Gene Wilder? i love that movie. 8,D

@vermii: yeeesss me too! that's what I like! I think Us and Bird Box do a good job of that~

that thing was creepy, i still haven't seen that season, and it lowkey put me off the other seasons too

i'm totally good with bloody gore, like sweeny todd or kill bill, but when guts fall out that im like "uuhhh maybe not"
i'm better with it animated tho o: like that vampire anime Castlevania
i watched that and ate lunch just fine lolol

@Deaa:
Still need to see Us! It looks super neat. ; 3;
In terms of jumpscares tho, i guess sometimes i don't mind them if they're done JUST right and aren't excessive.
Like, the movie doesn't rely on them to be scary, ya know? It does a fine job of being scary on it's own, but it will toss a jumpscare or two at you just for good fun.

that's fair. for the longest time i considered watching watching AHS cause it seemed up my ally, but then i heard of some of the stuff going on in Covenant i think? and that put me off a whole lot so, yeah lol.

yeah, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 there was a lot of severed body parts and gore and it didn't effect me.
I'm still not entirely sure i understand my own limits, i just kno that sometimes i can handle it and other times i have to curl up and look away. xD
Like, there was this one movie i watched with some friends, i forget what it was called, but it involved a guy who lived in an abandoned subway i think? shit, i barely remember. this was back in highschool. But
he ties this lady up and preforms a "check up" on her with a machete or something and WOOF, i was not ok with that for a LOT of reasons.

me parts were tingling in unpleasant ways

but yeah, i've had moments like that where i'd be completely unfazed and eating lunch to something that made others wildly uncomfortable. xD
