"I been gone for a while but mainly for health reasons. I had my gallbladder removed on Monday and now, been getting better. It was just a scary situation cause it was emergency surgery. I wanted to say hello again and hopefully I can come back when I wanted too prior (be more active etc).... :)

Anyone here had major emergency surgery before?"

@MoonEevee: Heyyy
I just had mine removed a month ago. XD
Not an ER situation though. I had an appointment.

I'm guessing you feel loads better now, ocnsidering it was a case of 'get it out or trouble'? (I'm assuming that's ho wit was, since you said emergency removal)

@MoonEevee: Welcome back! It's nice to meet you :D And yes, I have. It was for my tonsils. So, lemme tell you a tale home slice.

I was a wee lass of 15. I had been having issues with getting strep throat a lot. I had it at least 3 times within a year, and each lasting at least a week. So, we keep going, and it's my third or fourth time with the strep, and my doc is like: "Hey your tonsils are huge. You needa go see an ENT."

Off we go! It takes 1 session, and the ENT's eyes are bugged out: "How did you not get sent in sooner? We need to remove these, today."

Little me is like, "Whatever it takes to end the pain, doc. I'm losing my mind here."

Off I go, to surgery land! Turns out, when the doc was going to poke one of my tonsils, it exploded. That's right. Little me coulda had an exploded tonsil & suffocated. Perfect timing, doc!

They finish cleanin' me up, and taking them out. I wake up, and free of pain. First thing I do is write down, "Can I try to talk?" Nurse says yes, so I grin at my mum, and say: "I feel AMAZING and normal! When can I eat? Can we go home?"

And once again, I never shut the fuck up.

Hope ya'll enjoyed.

Good that hear that you are better! But just thinking about your surgery makes me get goosebumps! Stay strong!! Love your avatar btw! :)

I had a benign tumor growing in my thyroid couple years back so I had to have it removed. The doctor said he didn't want to leave a scar on my neck so he made cuts on my chest area and stuck a tube in to remove what needed to be removed. I was knocked out but when I woke up, I just remembered feeling so much pain. I never want to experience something like that again. >__<

I’m glad they removed that sucker for you and hope you’re feeling better!

2 years ago, I had stomach issues, but, me not being stubborn at all, just kept going.
Nearly 2 years ago, I went to the supermarket and bent over to gt something.

I suddenly had a lot of pain.

Normally, my pain tolerance is extremely high (walking around with a joint dislocated? Easy!), but this... I couldn’t handle it.

Called the doctor and he told me to come in. I couldn’t even get up and walk to the beginning of the store, but he wanted me to come to him.
At some point the manager of the supermarket called the emergency line for me, police and ambulance came and I got sent to the ER.

After a bunch of test, they thought one of my major veins in my belly had burst and sent me for a scan.
They then found out it wasn’t a vein, but my stomach and all my stomach acids were all through my belly.

They sent me in for emergency surgery and 3 hours later I wake up with a drain out of my stomach, one out of my nose and all sort of tubes in my arm.
Stomach acids can dissolve nearly anything and everything in my belly was infected.

I needed to stay in the hospital for a week, had the strongest antibiotics they could find and keep draining my stomach and belly.

I was happy that they fixed my stomach but I was no happy camper in the hospital because of the drains.

"@Tuijp: Wow. I had extreme pain and knew something was wrong, so I pretty much decided ER was the best. Next thing I knew I needed emergency surgery and next day I had it. It was crazy and actually painful, even with drugs.... More like uncomfortable. Finally I am comfortable but have four holes in my belly. They said if I waited, I would of had bile all over my stomach area."

@MoonEevee: I hardly even take painkillers, but this had me begging for them (and the nurse who decided to give me morphine became the hero of the day).

When I got back from the scan (within 5 minutes after the scan was done), the complete hall of the ER was filled with white coats and I had to go for surgery asap.

The took me to the emergency department of the hospital, helped me undress and, within an hour, I was on the surgery table.
