My kitchen smells pretty darn good right now. Just got done peeling a bunch of peaches. The store had a produce sale going and peaches were really cheap so I bought a few pounds of them. I'm going to attempt to make some jam with them.
I may slice and freeze some for eating in winter too. I love peaches but you just can't find good fresh peaches here in winter.
Forums General Chit-Chat My kitchen smells like peaches
Smells of elderflower over here, the bushes are in bloom and we usually make some elderflower cordial this time of year.
Also considering if it's time to pick the wild strawberries (smultron) since they are starting to become colorful.
If I gave you a bunch more, would you peel my peaches too? They're also on sale in the local supermarket here.
@Monorea: they are, but not when you make jam.
@SirLionelNigelConrad: millions of peaches, peaches for you
millions of peaches, peaches for free
@Tuijp: Ah in that case it's good to peel, i always peel my tomatoes and bell peppers when i make salsa and stuff.
@Kira: spiced peaches do sound like they'd be good. Maybe I'll have to look for a recipe.
I was going to try to make spiced peach jam.

@Totalanimefan: elderflower is amazing but so much work. You just need the flower leafs, but those flowers are tiny.
@Tuijp: What are you talking about? You simply snip the flower bundles about 50 of them, put them in a bowl with 3 sliced lemons. Then you dissolve 2kg of sugar in 2-2.5 litres of water, stir to dissolve the sugar and bring it up to boiling. Then you add some citric acid and a little bit of preservative pour it on the flower bundles and lemons. Put a lid on it and let it be somewhere cool for 3 days. Then filter it and you have elderflower cordial you can dilute and drink.
Nearly no work at all.
Why would you fiddle about with the flower leafs?
@Monorea: I don’t know. I never made it.
I let the elderflowers turn into berries for the birds.
You can make cordial from the berries too or you can pick them while green and pickle them.
