Mine usually would sneak around the side of the house and start getting really freaked out so when I come stomping they dart back for the front door.
I think they stopped wanting to go out after this one time the screen fell out...
My orange boy rolled out and there was a stray coming up. Needless to say he went belly up and I had to rescue him. He hasn't gone back out since.
I really hope you're able to get your little kitty back inside soon.

My family can't understand why I'm upset that she got outside.

Ugh I'm sorry that's the worst. My dad once closed my male cat in the garage so when I was running all over freaking out he just sat there quietly until I finally started getting really upset.. Then he's like look in the garage. There was the cat sitting on top of his car. I was so mad.
I actually used to refuse to live with my mom cuz I knew she'd let my cats outside.
