i read that posting is the only way to gain volts but, how does the other currency work ?

Hello and welcome! Yes posting is how you can obtain volts and event currency (if an event is in progress). Ohms can be obtained by donating money to the site. Aside from that, all currencies are currently tradeable so you can buy and sell as well.
