These are pics from the two sketchbooks I use (primarily) for markers. I have a third that I grabbed recently, but these are the two I use mostly
Strathmore Vision Mixed Media 98lb paper.

Markers show up gorgeous on it, BUT you HAVE to put something behind the page. They WILL bleed through, as you can see.

It bleeds through, and I would still recommend having something behind, but this is just to show how different papers bleed differently.
Printer paper will likely be really bad for bleed through. So keep that in mind ^ ^;;
(My 140lb watercolour paper bleeds through too, for that matter. Although, to be fair, it's a super cheap watercolour paper, lol)
As for blending, start light, go darker. Overlap your colours, but be careful!
If you use too light a colour over a darker colour it WILL lift the colour a bit.
Also, the 'Colourless Blender' is useless. If you have one, you're better off tossing it, really.
It doesn't blend. It just lifts colour.

@NEBULA: Heh. I use my markers regularly, so I'm always happy to help people out with what I know!
@Queen of trash: Also, another thing.
If you look between the two I sent for how marker looks on the paper, compared to yours... the look on mine is a lot smoother, because the paper I'm using can actually handle it better than printer paper can.
Without enough support for it, I suppose, it won't look as lovely as it could be.
If that makes sense?
(I'm not trying to knock what you're doing, I've been there and a LOT of my early stuff is on printer paper! But the markers will play nicer with better paper.)

@Queen of Trash: There are actual 'MARKER' sketchbooks, but I THINK they are largely pads. I would recommend a smaller wirebound book. which around here are .... $15 CAD or so. So probably what, like 10? 11? USD.
So not too bad. =)
(I use 8.5x5.5 books, if that matters. They're a good size fo rme, and it'd be better to go small than have a large page you don't put much on. Check what they have when you go though, of course~<3)
