Name: Lyle de Sainte-Coquille
Age: 24
Occupation: Prince of the Mivalon kingdom
Small Bio: Lyle has been lucky to grow up the way he did. He was taught at a young age how to treat ladies and what his responsibilities were. His parents had many servants that worked for them but there was one maid in particular who he had grown close to. She was his friend and they shared a love for books. Whenever his mother threw extravagant parties, Lyle and his friend would hide away and just read books together. His parents expect him to be married soon and it doesn't surprise him that they already have suitors lined up for him.

Name: Claudette Bordeaux
Age: 22
Occupation: Daughter of a wealthy and powerful family in the kingdom
Small Bio: Claudette is a self centered, cold hearted, materialistic person. While she loves Lyle, she also loves the wealth attached to him. Claudette has been to every party thrown and Lyle's mother has said that she would make a wonderful bride for her son. Her only issue now is the little maid getting in her way but surely Lyle wouldn't fall for a plain servant right?

Name: Troy Sullivan
Age: 26
Occupation: Prince of the Loweth Kingdom
Small Bio: Not much is known about Troy. He is a quiet, serious, and reserved guy who's only interest is the safety and happiness of his people. If he's not busy working, he's not a happy man. He does however enjoy occasional walks through the kingdom every now and then. Troy knows he must get married soon, but he's in no rush. At least right now he doesn't have any distractions from work.

Name: Amalia Karen Burress
Age: 24
Occupation: Delivery girl for her aunt's bakery
Small Bio: Amalia lives with her aunt Nancy after she lost her parents years ago in an accident. She helps her aunt out in the bakery and even delivers the orders while her aunt takes care of the in store orders. She is a very shy girl but likes to help out when she can. She was only sixteen when she first caught a glimpse of Troy and ever since she's had a crush on him. The two of them talk sometimes when she happens to make a delivery to his palace but she never actually stays long, too nervous and afraid that he'll reject her affections.

Aria Saige was hard at work one warm summer morning. She was quickly making the prince's favorite breakfast. She hoped it would make him feel a little bit better when she had to announce that there would be a party that day he would have to attend. It was the kind of party his mother always through,
hoping he would find a bride. But in all honesty, they would sit together and read, he faking sick when a nurse would come and check on him.

After making breakfast she hurried upstairs to deliver it to the prince.

Lyle still in bed despite knowing he had to be awake by now. Yawning, the young prince ran a hand through his dark and thick hair and sat up in his bed. He was dressed in only the finest silk pajamas. This time he had chosen the white ones. Lyle forced himself out of bed and walked over to his bathroom where he proceeded to wash his tired looking face then walked back into his room and opened up his closet. What did he want to wear today? He wondered what his friend would want to do today, though she was probably too busy right now to do anything. For now he'd have to kill some time. He could always just read a book on his own, he did have plenty to choose from so it wasn't like it would be a problem. He pulled out a red collared shirt then looked at the white jacket he could wear over it. "Hmm... maybe." he muttered to himself.

Aria carefully climbed up the stairs and walked through the winding halls of the castle until she reached the Prince's quarters. After knocking in the way she usually would, she carefully opened the door. She smiled,"Good morning Lyle." She said, speaking to him normally since they were alone,"I have good news and I have bad news. Good news is I have made your favorite for breakfast.... but the bad news is your mother is throwing another party..."

Lyle heard the knock on his door and smiled, knowing full well who it was. He checked the time, she was right on time as she always was. "Good morning, Aria." he said quietly while he continued to look through his clothes, looking for something nice to wear. When he heard the news, he frowned and looked at her with the saddest look on his face. "How wonderful." he muttered, clearly not happy about this. "We can always just hide away and read though, so at least I don't have to deal with it." Lyle said quietly. "Thank-you for the breakfast and for being punctual as always."

Aria gently set his tray on the small table in his room, where he always ate breakfast,"It gets even worse than that." She sighed,"Miss Claudette will be coming to the party as well. And you know how insanely jealous she is of us being friends." Aria let out a soft sigh.

Claudette was rude, materialistic, and all around one of the most unpleasant people Aria had ever met in her life. And she felt she would be the one to make the best wife for Lyle. Aria shook her head as her mind thought about the slim to none chance that she, Aria could be chosen for him. But she knew that would never be, as she was nothing more than a mere servant girl.

She looked over as Lyle spoke, thanking her for breakfast and for being there on time. She smiled and nodded,"Well of course. I have served you since I have arrived here. If I couldn't get it to you fast enough, I'd be a poor excuse for a maid."

Lyle decided to leave the clothes alone and actually eat his breakfast before it got cold. He walked to hit table and took a seat before taking a bite from his food and listening to what she had to say. It was safe to say he almost choked when she mentioned Claudette's name. Lyle took a sip of his drink and let out a deep sigh as he poked at his food. "I shouldn't be surprised that she'll be here." Lyle said. Listening to what she said last, he chuckled and nodded, "You're right. You'd probably be fired too. I don't tolerate lateness very well. Not unless you have a good excuse."

He knew that she probably heard about his parents' plans to get him a bride soon, and he wondered what she thought about it. "You know, my parents expect me to find a bride soon. They want me married next year I believe." he said and knew he had to be serious with her about this. "Whoever my wife ends up being, I still want you around, understood?" Lyle said seriously. "You do a great job at what you do and I enjoy talking with you. It's refreshing." It really was. With Aria, he didn't have to be so proper. He could be laid back and just relax from his duties as prince.

Aria sighed and sat down as well, just for a few moments,"If it is Claudette, I should start looking for a different job right away." She said,"Because you and I both know that her first order as queen would be to send me away." She looked over at him, somewhat curious,"If you could choose someone right now to marry, do you have any idea who you would choose?"She asked. Even if it wasn't her, if it was someone else who could make him happy, someone who would treat him right, and not mind that his maid and close friend might have a crush on him.

Lyle smirked and shook his head. "You fail to recognize that if she and I married, my word is law. I do not care if she does not like you, I do and that is that. I want you to stay, end of discussion." he replied honestly and went back to eating his breakfast in silence. After a moment, Aria spoke up again and he was surprised by her question, but he figured she deserved an answer. "Of course I do, Aria." That was a very personal question to have asked but they were friends so he guessed it didn't matter. Lyle would marry her, well if he could and clearly he couldn't so he'd have to be miserable for the rest of his life. If he kept Aria close though, maybe he wouldn't be so miserable.

Aria couldn't help but smile,"Well... I hope whoever it is deserves it." She said,"I hope they make you happy. Just because I'm curious, is it anyone I know?" She asked, unable to stop a little laugh at the end of her sentence. She couldn't help but be curious about it, as it was something she had never thought of before. She just hoped it was someone who would make him happy and treat him right.

Once Lyle finished eating, he used the napkin to wipe his mouth and then looked to Aria. "She does. Well, I believe she deserves the world, but marrying me is just the start I suppose." he answered honestly. He wondered what sort of wife Aria would be, she was always so happy and a pleasure to be around. When she asked if the person was someone she knew, he nodded. "Oh you know her very well. She's a lovely girl who I am very fond of. Seeing her brings me such joy and when I hear her speak, my heart skips a beat." he said and chuckled as he stood up. "Between you and me, she's also very punctual. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go shower and get ready for this dreaded party." Lyle added and excused himself before walking into his bathroom and locking the door behind him. He wasn't looking forward to the party but he had to put on a happy face anyway.

Aria smiled when she heard all that and nodded, taking his dishes out with her to the kitchen, She had to prepare the food for the party and then clean the kitchen. She wished she was able to go, it would be such fun to dress up and feel like a beautiful girl at the ball instead of just a simple maid doing the cooking and cleaning. She didn't mind cooking and cleaning of course, but it really sucked having to watch someone you care about act happy and that they like someone else."

Lyle started up his shower and undressed then stepped inside and exhaled as the hot water hit his skin. After about thirty minutes, Lyle shut off the water and stepped out. He grabbed a towel and dried himself off then dropped his dirty laundry in the basket and walked out to his room where he began to look through his clothes and get dressed. "Put on a happy face Lyle.." he said to himself as he looked in the mirror and fixed his hair. It was going to be hard to pretend to be happy when he wasn't, but he was going to have to try or else his parents would be displeased.

Lyle was dressed in dark blue with a black collared shirt underneath. Once he was done fixing his hair, he made sure he looked presentable and exited his room. His parents were already making sure that the preparations for the party were coming along perfectly. Servants were running around like ants frantically making sure everything was ready for when the guests arrived. "Oh Lyle you look so handsome!" his mother chimmed happily. "Thank-you mother, you look lovely." he replied as he gracefully descended the stairs, his eyes looking around but not seeing Aria.

Soon Aria could be seen holding two large trays of delicate little pastries and other little snacks made for the party. She carefully set them down on the large table for snacks and drinks before turning around, seeing Lyle. She wanted to run over and hug him gently. Instead, she looked over and smiled at him, giving him a nod before looking around as she was being called in to help with something else. She looked at him sadly, wishing she had a little time to spend with him before he was forced to attend the party, before turning away and heading back into the kitchen, most likely to help with cleaning.

Ah, there she was. Busy at work as always. She'd make any man happy, Lyle was sure of that. He wasn't sure why he even wanted to marry her, it wasn't like she even liked him. In her eyes, they were just friends. In his parents eyes, she was just his servant. In his eyes she was his whole world though, but of course no one would ever know. "Lyle!" his mother snapped, causing him to tear his gaze away from Aria who looked sad that she was too busy to talk.

"S-sorry mother." Lyle said and walked over to her, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Let me get a good look at you." His mother said quietly and looked at Lyle's clothes carefully, making sure there was no lint or any imperfections. "You look wonderful Lyle, I'm sure Claudette will be very pleased to see you." she said with a smile on her face. "Is she going to be here?" Lyle asked, pretending not to have known this already. "Of course she is. Lyle dear, have you made a choice for a bride?" his mother asked. Lyle exhaled slowly, his purple eyes watched his mother carefully.

"I have, but it isn't Claudette and I'm not telling you who it is because you and father will not approve anyway. You have your hearts set on Claudette." he answered honestly. "Well how can you be so sure when you haven't even told us who it is?" she asked and smiled at her husband who walked over, looking handsome in his attire. "So this is where you've run off to." Lyle's father said to his wife then kissed her knuckles. "What are we discussing?" he asked. "Lyle has chosen a bride and he won't tell us who because he thinks we won't approve." The queen answered. "Well it's true." Lyle muttered.

Since the other maids were hard at work, Aria was left to take care of cleaning the kitchen. She let out a sigh, as the place was a total mess. Covered in flour, bits of batter and dough, and just an absolute mess.
She sighed and grabbed a broom, starting to sweep up all the flour, whistling as she swept. She had thought maybe she would be able to peek into the party after doing all this cleaning, but as she looked around, she realized it might take a bit longer than she had thought.

"Lyle dear, just tell us." The queen said. Lyle blushed and looked down at his feet nervously. This was new for his parents, they never saw him so nervous before. Their son was always so serious and composed. Whoever this girl was, she clearly meant a lot to him. "It's Aria.." he said quietly. "Aria!" his mother gasped and his father clapped him on the shoulder. "Aria's the lucky lady eh?" his father asked and laughed. "Lyle, why would you think we wouldn't approve?" The king asked. "Well, because she's just a commoner." Lyle answered truthfully.

"Lyle, that doesn't matter. We're your parents and we only want you to be happy, and if she's the one for you then of course we approve." His father explained. "She's a sweetheart, I think she would make a beautiful bride and she will make you very happy I'm sure. Of course, she doesn't know anything about the ways of royalty but we'll teach her. We'll get the very best teachers for her." His mother added with a giggle. "Have you told her?" she asked. "W-well no I haven't. I don't know when to tell her." Lyle answered.

"Why don't you tell her during the party. You should make an announcement. I'm sure she'll be surprised to hear it." His father suggested. Lyle looked at his parents, the blush still on his face. They were okay with him marrying a commoner?! "R-really? What about Claudette and everyone else?" Lyle asked. His father shook his head and waved a hand dismissively. "You don't need to worry about them. They may not agree or understand, but they are not important to us, you are."

Soon enough, the party was starting. Aria let out a soft sigh, having the sweeping done. She managed to wipe down all the cabinets and get the floors mopped up. All she had left to do was the large mountain of dishes. Maybe if she hurried she could peek just a little into the dance before getting a shower in and calling it a night. As she washed the dishes, she closed her eyes, imagine she was wearing a beautiful gown and at the party.
She was there with Lyle and they were able to dance the night away, just the two of them.....She blinked and shook her head, shaking the thoughts as she looked down at the dishes she was washing. She was lucky she didn't accidentally nick herself on a knife.

"Bonjour!" Claudette's ear piercing voice could be heard as she made her way to where Lyle was standing with a glass of red wine in his hand. His parents were off conversing with the other guests. "Hello Claudette." he said and smiled politely at her. "Prince Lyle, why are you all by yourself?" she asked and wrapped her arms around his arm, resting her head on his shoulder. Lyle sighed. "I was just observing is all." he answered and sipped his wine. "You look lovely as always." he told her. He hated her, but he had to be nice.

Claudette blushed and smiled up at him. "You really like it?" she asked. "I do, it suits you nicely." he answered quietly. Seeing as how the dancing was starting, Claudette practically pulled Lyle out to dance with her. Lyle quickly set his glass of wine down on a silver tray of a passing butler and looked at Claudette. "Claudette I...I'd rather not." he said quietly but she narrowed her eyes and forced him to dance with her since some people had stopped to watch.

As much as he didn't want to, Lyle had to pretend to enjoy himself as he and Claudette danced effortlessly. He had to admit that she was a good dancer. That didn't change the fact that he'd rather be dancing with someone else or even better, read a book with someone. His parents looked surprised to see him dancing with Claudette but they were happy that he seemed to be enjoying himself. After a while, Lyle couldn't do this anymore and stopped dancing. "I'm sorry Claudette but I can't dance with you." he said. Claudette looked at him confused. "Why not? I haven't messed up once!" she said. "It's not your dancing Claudette. Trust me, you are a good dancer, but I just don't dance with someone I'm not fond of. I care about someone, and you're not her, I'm sorry but it isn't fair to anyone that I continue to pretend to like you when I clearly don't."
