I think Dragons: The Nine Realms is slightly better than Rescue Riders (I don't watch it since I'm not the target audience of that show considering it's obviously aimed at much younger kids/kindergarteners, although I might be biased and shouldn't be saying that, sorry) but not as great as Riders of Berk. While I'm glad it has Season 2 and hoping there'll be Season 3 to be better than S1 and S2 since my mind starts wondering what's going to happen to Tom and his team after they found out the mysterious cave. :x Will they uncover something while they discover? Who knows?
The only complaint I have is it's too short for my liking (7 episodes lol) and the story feels rushed sometimes. However, I do like how there's little to no romance (for now 'cause I'll be damned/annoyed if one of the characters suddenly falls in love for one second without any development) and the characters are friends regardless of gender which is pretty refreshing to me since most animated shows tend to make the main characters (male and female) to be shipped with each other and somehow ends up in love and/or gets married for the sake of shipping. Character design wise, they (as in all the characters in the show, dragons included) could use some improvements (though Tom himself is quite of an exception since he looks normal a.k.a what you expect of a typical teen lol) especially June and Alex. The former had too much (shades of) purple in her design and I wish they should've gave her a pixie cut and some better clothing instead. The latter also had the same reason as June's as I felt Alex should've been given with an oversized hoodie/sweater to represent her shyness better than overalls and some comfortable jeans (just ditch the damn overalls please).
Other than that, the story had a rough start in S1 (justified since Season 1 is the beginning of introduction) and got a bit better in S2 in my opinion. While they do have some animation downgrade but I couldn't care less as long as the story is interesting that I can get invested in. Anyway I'm starting to feel tired so I'll ended it here lmao
