How long would it actually take to reach the goal of one million pages?
I'm going to base my calculations on a few assumptions:
1. This page is starting from scratch
2. There are five extremely dedicated users willing to spam day and night to reach the goal
3. Each post is perfectly timed
4. The end goal is to get the first post on the 1 millionth page
5. This is in the undercurrent
We know that there's a 5 second cooldown between posts, but since I've assumed there's five people dedicated, it comes out to 1 post per 1 second rather than .2 posts per second.
Givens:
1. 20 posts per page
2. 1 post per second
3. 60 s = 1 m, 60 m = 1 h
4. 23 h, 59 m, 59 s = 1 d
Variables:
s = # of seconds
p = # of posts
d = # of days
n = final number of days
Now the actual math:
(20 x 999,999) + 1 = p = s
s = 19,999,980 seconds
d = (((23*60)*60) + (59*60) + 59) seconds
d = ((82,800) + (3,540) + 59) seconds
d = 86,399 seconds
s / d = n
19,999,980 / 86,399 = n
n ≈ 231.5 days
So the final, (approx.) minimum time for a completely fresh and new 1mil thread on the Undercurrent with 5 dedicated posters:
231 and a half days
Also we would hit quite a few post milestones on here in the process.
This info is basically useless but I was bored and finally figured out what to do with all the algebra I remember from my freshman year of high school. Please correct me if I messed anything up!
