A muscle spasm isn't always moving, you're possibly thinking of a muscle twitch. Spasms are where the muscle holds a contracted/tense position even while the muscle should be in a lax position, which causes the painful cramp feeling. To relax the muscle, that's what massages are for \o/ therapists can find the source of the problem (which usually isn't directly where it hurts) and work it all out. Feels so good.
but also nutrition and stretching, and drinking lots of water can all help with easing the muscle, lengthening (stretching/relaxing) it and flushing out toxins.
