@LordLucre: Sure, I can do that! Do you happen to have more reference pictures?
I do have my quest thread in my signature, but I kinda need Volts atm. :')
Items are fine if that's all you have though!

@LordLucre: A cartoon bat, absolutely. A realistic bat, soft maybe.

@LordLucre: Sweet, I'll look forward to it. :D

@Deaa: Yup, that's about what I had in mind. I had a few other ideas I'll throw in as well. I'll work on that now! Thanks for the order. :D

@Deaa: That sounds right up my alley! Did you have any specific ideas or did you want me to just roll with it?

Mine would be small and cozy, almost cavelike. I've always wanted a tiny house but they look so silly in practice. Nice on the inside though.

If I could live in an actual cave, well then, now we're talkin'.

@Tuijp: Yeah, sounds about right. Everyone learns differently, makes it hard to teach some things. I'm gonna try the blocking thing on the items I'm working on now if I can get myself to focus lol.
Posted in A Proud Moment Posted 5 years ago

@Tuijp: I definitely miss the minimalist interface. That seems like a pretty good idea. I usually go right for soft shading with the airbrush but blocking it in might be a better option. Thank you for the advice. :D

@Tuijp: I recently made the move from SAI to Clip Studio Paint, it's just SAI with more buttons and better feeling controls lol.
I usually use references off Google for shading, but I try to do some things on my own so I can actually learn. Using IRL examples seems like a good idea, I might try that.

@Tuijp: Seeing an item come together at the end is what makes it all worth it.
I'm much better at designing than making the item, I'm fine at doing the flat pixels but my shading just struggles. It's getting better, but right now it just takes so long to get it just right. I don't know what trick I'm missing lol.

@Tuijp: I still go on there to play a few good puzzle games, but some of it I don't even wanna think about. Not just because of the difficulty, my humor has evolved to the point where I probably wouldn't understand why I thought it was funny ten years ago.

I don't think I was ever truly happy with my art until I started doing pixels. It felt like it came so naturally to me. So whenever I see a newer artist struggling I tell them to branch out into something new. I hate working with soft pixels now, except shading items for Tris. Even though that's a pain too. :')

@Tuijp: I remember back in the day when some of the stuff on Newgrounds had no business being as hard as it was. I wonder if any of it holds up today. I know for sure it was a huge influence on the games I make.

I'm trying to get over my fear of imperfection in my work. It's an arduous process, but in making games you don't have much of a choice lol. It's both therapeutic and stressful.
Posted in Where would I put this thread? Posted 5 years ago

Aww shoot, I didn't see their thread! I'd feel bad making another one just like it, oh well lol. Thank you for the info though!

@Tuijp: I'll be sure to let you know when we have a demo build ready! From what I've seen this one is gonna be good. Less rooms to visit, but each one has more to it. Quality over quantity. Oh, and another thing about her is she loves her OC's with the passion of 1,000 burning suns. I think at this point I'm just enjoying talking about her. :')

And I've gotten some good feedback on it. Maybe I'm just being too harsh on my own work. Artist syndrome. I'll revisit it today and see what needs finishing. I don't think it was too far from a state of release.
