I feel like this question belongs in the artist galleries section so thts why im posting it here seperately from my art dump thread
Do yall ever draw ppl outside of normal beauty conventions?
I'm personally pretty far from "attractive" by normal conventions and over the years ive realized that when i draw someone "beautiful" i base that idea off of societal standards. When i draw myself, i dont think "oh thts a beautiful person" - instead i tend to think ok ive drawn my token ugly for the moment. Like when you're frustrated w a straight line so you draw a hard fast squiggle off to the side.
When I draw for an example: Rhaenyra Targaryen - I think of HoTD's actor instead of how she is canonically described because people are more inclined towards "Beautiful/slender women" than women who are bigger for whatever reason - in her case, having an abundance of foods she can eat and having birthed multiple children and a figure that is indicative of that lifestyle.
I dont feel like im being really eloquent here.
This is something I am trying to tackle within myself and my art style as someone who is technically obese and very plain jane looking oval face.
I would love to hear yalls thoughts on this

Bleach only fried the tippy-tips!! I'm gonna baby it tonight w more moisture and then tone it tomorrow. my hair is like a mullet with shaved sides so i can do it all myself.

I have done art since i was old enough to hold a crayon but damned if i learned anything in all of my art classes. I think i failed the majority of them vv;;;

@Alexia: im not sure if that would work tbh this toilet has literally clogged over nothing. I think there may be an issue with the sewage line further down or something? idk im an not a plumber
if it turns out decent ill post pics <3 Im scared ill fry it again even though ive babied the hell out of it the last month - i even got fancier conditioner to baby it more
if you know who whatifjulia is, her hair color is roughly what im aiming for. I had it earlier this year and then i dyed it orange, then grey, and then it faded out to a muddy ash blonde :(

I went and got bleach and toner! Lets go frick it upppp
and hopefully not fry it agaiinnnn
I had to wait a bit cause i had maintenance dudes in my apt to work on my toilet yet again (I've lived here for only 3months!!!). >:( They think it's something to do w the septic tank cause last time it was totally fully and they told me today it was full again.
I think they need a bigger septic tank tbh >x>
gonna go look like a punk Targaryen
and hopefully not fry it agaiinnnn

@MoodyB: not to even get STARTED on finding one that "matches" your art and what's in your head!
I love that art is so individual yet still uniform even as i hate it.
It makes feeling out your own art an odyssey all on its own. You're trying to get to "I love and am comfortable w my art" but you keep going round in circles that never seem to end

@MoodyB: The last 2 days my brain just went >:PPPPPP at all my art and ive been struggling to ignore it
I know people have made tutorials about like the tricks to painting clothes is the diff textures to focus on. I cant think of any of the top of my head beyond like obv how shiny pleather outfits use hard opaque shading and cotton uses softer shading, linens i think have more of a hashmark-y texture?
Hair on the other hand idk

I know how stressful moving is! Be sure to give yourselves a decent sized break when you're done so you can recover from that double whammie!
I finally found my tablet pen nibs again and i forgot id written the date of when i got them on the package Jan 14, 2013

I've started so many pieces lately and then come back the next day and just hated what ive done
I know that learning is a process and all that jazz but my perfectionism and high self-expectations is kicking my butt. HAIR IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE
Im gonna go watch a Charlie Bowater style analysis and try to learn some new stuff ^^

@Totalanimefan: Work went well! It was surprising to be welcomed back by so many coworkers who had noticed i was missing and were happy to see me again.
One of my higher up bosses even gave me a hug lol

I get that UnU I tend to think i function near "normal" until im suddenly Not. I've gone years without knowing what exactly triggers me and that's part of what ive been working on figuring out.
You should defff give yourself a Gold star or some other kind of treat for the sheer amount of work you've put in! I know Im only a stranger on the internet but I m so proud of you and the work you've done thus far!
