@Booderdooder: I always get myself, what I call "a tax return gift to myself."
Usually I get a new video game system but this year I was like "time to get a fancy dancy $$$ backpack"
So I got a cute plum FjallRaven backpack <3
It is so sturdy and I love the canvas like material, I have NEVER spent so much on a backpack, but for the quality that I got, I don't regret it.

IT IS SO FRICKIN' STRESSFUL!!!
Everything is being closed and all the closures are being extended (at least in my area).
I agree with masa, it gets worse before it gets better. Yeah it sucks but I mean... somehow they got through the black plague and the AIDS epidemic, so I think, even though this is AWFUL, that the pandemic will pass.
Booder-Yeah we use canvas at my HS I teach at so I am trying to understand it because I never really had to in the past but now that is what my life centers around......

TBH I wish I was at work in person because not being at work is ten times worse than being AT work... We have so much extra stuff to do... While I like being home...Teaching is SO MUCH EASIER IN PERSON!

A different topic bc I stressed
I was at Walgreens getting a bit more food and tissues and I was chatting with two other people and I just keep saying "I just want to stop hearing about the Coronavirus but that is impossible and we really need to be aware of it."
When I was walking down the street yesterday, there were two people walking behind me and I listened into their conversation and it was pretty valid and scary. They were talking about how COVID-10 has similar beginning symptoms to the normal every day flu. So you continue to do your thing when you feel the minor flu symptoms. Which means going places and touching things while not knowing it is COVID-19 and NOT just the normal strain of flu. So by the time you get tested and figure out OH IT IS THE CORONAVIRUS NOT JUST THE FLU! A bunch of other people have been contaminated because you were going around throughout your day like normal.
AND THAT HAS MADE ME SO ANXIOUS! I feel like I want to start wearing gloves and a mask... I just want to wear a mask because it will prevent me from touching my face which is hard not to do thanks to dermatillomania and OCD... But uh everything is sold out so I guess I'll die? Lmfao

@Yandere: I work in a public high school. That was our plan for Monday and Tuesday too! Except we would have full days. I am planning to go in tomorrow regardless to help the more self-contained instructors get materials together for their students so they can send them home for them. Then attempting to contact all my caseload students and their parents.
Does your districts Spring break start on the 23rd? We are also doing remote teacher, then it is Spring break the week of the 23rd, then we will do one more week of remote teaching and hopefully return on the 6th of April...
What grade level do you teach? Can I also ask what state you are in?

So we were supposed to have until Tuesday evening to prepare our students and lay down what will happen while they are away from school until April 5th.
WELL! We just got an email about an hour ago saying that the district is closed starting immediately.
We had meetings tomorrow to go over the plan in the morning and I personally had another at 1pm to help me more learn about the online learning site we use to post assignments and materials that students need, but I guess those are both out.
I ALSO HAD AN IMPORTANT MEETING FOR A CASELOAD STUDENT! I don't know if this is still happening or not but I was really needing to have this so he would start to get special education services again...
Ugh this is crazy... But tbh I am surprised it took this look because in Wisconsin the virus showed up in the county I work in first.
I know other teachers are feeling the stress and struggles, fellow teachers of voltra feel free to vent here with me, lol.
