Totalanimefan: Yes, you can also get him on Harv's island now and some of the other NPCs! Each of them cost 100k bells though but the gyroids collect the donations for them. :D

Also sometimes you'll find crops on islands by taking Kapp'n's boat! :3

Ooh I love the AC update <3 but haven't gotten the paid DLC yet, might be a bit before I do, though I love having Brewster finally and I love planting all the crops! I made 1/3 of my island a farm because of that XD
