thank you everyone for the kind comments :-)
uni got me gal, so i haven't been able to draw as much as i'd like to, BUT, i did a sorta quick one of my oc for artfight
plus: playing around with new brushes, since the current ones i use really kill my hand when painting

@neon:
ooh, i'd also like to join an art server! i don't have any artsy friends so i need an outlet for that kind of talk sometimes :-D

i think everyone i know/have spoken to wants to go for wither, so i might have to go for bloom just to even it out :-D

@Alorrena:
doing pretty great, how about you? despite that, i'm currently suffering from heat, i love summer but my body cannot tolerate high temperatures
i'm from latvia!

hello hello! i'd say good morning, but in my corner of the world, i'm starting to wind down for the day

@GoblinsAndTea: @MoodyB:
had the same thought about dropping in here now that the theme's been announced!
i think bloom and wither are super fun! to me they are something that i could even incorporate in my attacks. what teams are you thinking of joining?

just finished The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. definitely a 5/5 for me.
who doesn't love some fantasy lesbians and dragon riders

and just picked up my uncle's old n battered copy of Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut. i tried The Sirens of Titan first, but the characters and plot didn't capture me as much, so i dropped it.

@Rei Ann:
i think you've basically hit all the talking points that i was mainly interested in! i'm very glad to hear about character creation being upgraded, to me the system felt a little wonky at times.
can't wait for the game to be out on switch :-)

Posted in My Time at Sandrock Posted 2 years ago

oh geez, i had completely forgotten about it! what a nice reminder.
how does the game feel compared to my time at portia? i'm very interested to see what improvements they've made, since the first game (to me) felt a little too dull and grindy at times. the combat in this one looks nicer as well!

i've known about art fight for many, many years, but 2021 was the first time i joined in.
super excited for this year! i don't really care that much about getting art of my own characters, i just loove drawing fun looking designs/people.

plugging my profile in case anyone wants to follow :-)

@Alorrena:
ah! thank you! i didn't realise that, oops!!

@Vegan:
yes, feel free to send me your discord! it's always so exciting for me to hear how everyone's first dragon age journey is, plus it's been too long since i've got to gush about my faves :-)

i've been wanting to challenge myself to do more traditional art purely because of the fact that it does require you to have a certain sense of adventure and spontaneity, but it's super hard to get out of old habits. digital art and i have been very close for over a decade now, and i've been working with a graphic tablet since 2013? 2014? which means that i'm just too darn comfortable with it lol.

another reason for not delving into traditional mediums is that i'm simply a broke uni student with extremely limited dorm space for too many art supplies. definitely planning on delving into the world of painting with an actual brush after i grind out my degree and get a cushy job.

you know what, somehow during all of these years, i've forgotten that it's possible to print out your own art. the most mixing i've done is taking pictures of pencil sketches and then doing the rest digitally - i might have to try out your method one day! typing this also made me realise that i could just sketch on my tablet (i've also got a huion! love it so much) and then (very carefully) use it as a light box of sorts.

i completely agree with you about using references. personally, it's only when i properly learnt how to use them, that i started growing as an artist. i love making pinterest boards of neat stuff i find that either could be useful for when my brain doesn't know how to draw a thing or just looks neat/is inspirational.
plus, there's nothing wrong with learning from other artists. so much of my own art is a mix-and-match of techniques/styles that i saw other people do and thought "wow! that looks pretty! i wanna try that too!".

@Alorrena
thank you so much for the kind present and tip!

@GoblinsAndTea
i wish i could play dnd more! i've only had a couple of sessions with my friends, but since we've all got very conflicting schedules, unfortunately we had to stop. i'm pretty interested in picking up some DM skills to try and host a session for some other people i know would be down to try.
i'm currently making my way through NADDPOD (not another DND podcast). i love the cast so much! they're the perfect mixture of serious roleplay and fantasy shenanigans. there's also the many dimension 20 shows, but it's a bit much for me at the moment.

@Vegan:
i really suggest playing through dragon age: origins! it's one of the few games that really managed to catch my attention! the cast of characters is very charming and really makes up for any flaws the game itself might have.

and yess, i'm scared of wasting too much paper. digital art lets me be a perfectionist, undoing until i get the perfect line i want. traditional inking makes me want to cry lol
