I'm glad tomorrow is Saturday and I might have an opportunity to ACTUALLY participate. All of these have been solved and finished by the time I get home from work. I've still gotten the items and that's nice, but I wanna help.. XD

@rainbowpanda: I'm nerding out and really enjoying looking at everyone else's processes for solving the problems. It's always fun for me to find out where the errors are, how they got the error, and seeing all of the different ways people come up with to solve a problem. /needs a nerdy smiley

I'm so letting my kids try this problem. We've covered every bit of that from elapsed time to time conversions to fractions to adding to multi-step problems.

@miss kitty: I teach 4th grade math, but we're totally dealing with elapsed time AND multistep word problems right now. XD
I'll post what I got and then go back and check to see if I got what everyone else got....
Disclaimer- It's the end of the school year and my brain is fried. XD

2:24 pm start time

1st batch
20 minute prep work
35 minute cook time
recipe makes 16 cookies
1/4 are edible

2nd batch
20 minute prep
17 minute cook
all 16 are fine

3rd time- assuming each batch had the same cook time and putting in the additional minutes for the underdone cookies.
4 batches at 16 cookies per
1 hour prep
batch 1 16 cookies
17 minutes
batch 2 16 cookies
17 minutes
7 additional minutes
batch 3 8 cookies
17 minutes
5 additional minutes
Batch 4
17 minutes
8 cookies

20+35+20+17+60+17+17+7+17+5+17= 232 minutes
3 hours and 52 minutes
Start time 2:24 pm
End time= 6:16pm

Cookies
4+16+16+16+8+8= 68 cookies

ANSWER:
Ending time- 6:16pm
