I prefer realistic 90% of the time.

The problem with traditional works is that phone camera/lighting doesn't do them justice most of the time, or that you can see the artist's laundry in the background. I'd suggest taking pictures in direct sunlight, with your camera parallel to the paper (as best as you can), and then maybe play with the contrast levels on some online picture editor. Also crop all that extra white space out.

As for the sketch itself, I like the realistic one because it's more interesting.
