@Llama: I try to buy them in pairs so I usually end up with siblings. The times I don't are because I find myself at the pet store and there's a rat all alone and I just can't leave him there.

@Llama: We have a lot of cages. We have the critter nation, which is the main cage for them. We have the quarantine cage, the vet cage, and 2 extra cages that fit 2-3 rats if needed.

Noah Jr and Peanut were brothers but we lost Noah Jr after his surgery last month. Peanut is in with Henry who was all alone at PetSmart so I brought him home. And the two new boys are brothers. The girls are sisters.

@Lina: hahaha, I tried teaching my dog some normal tricks and he's just like I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING TO ME. But he was able to learn the service dog tasks he needed to know. So I don't know how his brain works.

@Llama: we do a 2 week quarantine, just in case they're sick. That way if one of the new boys is sick it doesn't get the whole mischief sick, it's a lot less expensive to pay 1 vet bill than to pay like 4. But the boys have always welcomed new ratties. The two we have together right now weren't originally together, they were introduced.

@Lina: yeah rats are very clean animals. I didn't ever have to teach any of mine not to poo or anything in the play area, they just automatically realized that's not where you go.

@Lina: They have a huge cage but I love giving them playtime. I wish the area was bigger but it's something at least. I have a small cage for the area, they use it for water and if they have to go to the bathroom.
