Also Slytherclaw--I've pretty much kept this name on every avatar forum I've joined, I think, and plenty of other sites besides.

Yeah, I did a project when I was in school about the book and did a whole bunch of research for it, which is sort of how i stumbled upon it. It was really upsetting, because my English teacher was completely convinced that I was wrong, geisha were prostitutes, etc, and spent like five minutes bullying me until I stopped arguing about it. Not even arguments, just like 'okay, but they WERE prostitutes' over and over, bleh.
Yeah, she didn't want her name used, since her speaking out at all was pretty taboo, and he broke his word and did it anyway. She talks about it in the introduction to her own book. Or I think she does--it's admittedly been about a decade since I read it.

Roliana....I think I had an account there, but I don't think I was active. Maybe showed up for a week or two. Mostly I've done Gaia, Crysandrea for a time, Terrasus, LunaeSaga, and Syndrone for any actual lengths of time.

Oh, memoirs. Have you ever read Mineko Iwasaki's book? She was the source behind Memoirs' research, and actually ended up suing the author for abusing his research so much to lie about the profession, so she wrote her own story as an actual geisha about her life to dis-spell stuff like the geisha as prostitutes myth.

o.o omg really?
Sugar alcohols affect people differently--I'm actually sick to my stomache right now from too many peanut butter cups from the sugar free russel stovers, lol, but halo top has never made me sick, thank god. xD
Ahhh, that means you can't try the yummy pancake or caramel flavors noooo

Yeah--which I guess I should have expected, since a good half of my family is diabetic, but surprise, turns out so am I.
On the bright side, there are a lot of diabetic friendly alternatives. My boy and I went keto and gave up carbs for the most part, but there's still stuff like Halo Top, which is low carb low sugar ice cream and stuff (which is totally delicious anyway -w-)

Lol believe me, I never would have given it up if I had a choice, but it's not too bad, once you get used to it.

Hey! I'm from PA! What's your general area? Philly/Pensatucky/Pittsburg?
I grew up outside of Philly, went to school in Lewisburg (middle of nowhere), and I'm getting married by Lake Harmony -w-
Although I live out of state now x3

Oh, haha, nevermind then. Our other delightful writer mentioned that she was trying to convince her sister to join and I was curious if you happened to be SisterFuu, lol.
A sandbox, huh? That sounds like it would be uncomfortable. Sand in weird places and all!

@Anarchist Beauty: Lol, alrighty then. I dunno, I used to love everything about him growing up, but that was largely because Alan Rickman's voice makes me melt, and reading the books with an adult, informed eye is like...holy crap. I used to think this was romantic?
Sort of like how I felt when I reread Twilight as an adult and could finally formulate why it made me so uncomfortable when I was younger.
