To be fair, I think her mother had been a teacher and was qualified to be a substitute teacher... just not for Spanish and especially not for an extended period of time

When I mentioned it to my dad once he said that they'd tried to find a substitute who knew Spanish but couldn't, but personally I don't remember them trying that at all. Also, the substitute was our principal's mother, and the principal would just come by to chat to her mom sometimes

I took some Spanish, but in my second year of Spanish our teacher went on maternity leave and we had a substitute teacher who didn't know Spanish. We learned nothing and everyone failed the final exam, but I'm pretty sure they ended up curving our grades since obviously no one was happy with that. The substitute expected us to learn from the textbook... the textbook that was for classroom use... to be used with an instructor...

I feel like I'd have trouble remembering the genders of nouns, but I guess I'd really have to try to learn a language with gendered nouns to know for sure

The conjugating and polite forms don't really scare me as much since I'm used to that with Korean

Although there are dialects of Korean that also have pitch accent. I remember them doing this thing on a show I watched, and then on another show with an idol with Es and 2s where the speaker with a pitch accent dialect would read them differently

Japanese kind of scares me... kanji... pitch accent... But maybe I'll try learning it someday

I- subject
like- verb
cats- object

Learning Korean is fun but challenging. Although, the challenge can also be part of the fun
