Erica shook her head.

"No... no it's not." She answered with a sigh.

"anyway, I'll see you later" was the last thing she said before heading off. It didn't take her long to reach the door she was aiming for, but agian she did run into issues.

Namely a couple new bruises were added, along with a laceration on her shoulder.

She knocked on the door with a sigh, and waited.

"State your business!" He called from within the room.

"It's Erica!" She called in response.

"Wanna let me in?"

There was silence on the other side for a moment, before Erica felt herself get swooped up in mana. A few seconds later, the door opened, and was brought in, and the door was shut and locked.

"Hello again." he said.

"So, tell me." he continued.

"Any news?" he asked.

"Anything to help us? At all?" he asked further.

"Because I've been doing some research on world events, and frankly? If we don't do something, this entire planet's society is going to collapse."

"Yeah... I realise that." Erica admitted after a moment or two.

"But... I wanted to ask if I could... err... ask you for some help. " She then said, some hesiance to her voice.

"I hate to ask, but... I don't know if I dare go follow what I saw." She added after a moment or two.

"As long as it's within the limits of my power." Hal responded. Erica just sighed before nodding.

"Before I lose my train of thought again," she started before meeting his gaze.

"I wish to know what the results of the tether status even means." She said simply.

"Because There's only one thing I can think of, and I really wanna know if ti's that or something else."

"....." Hal was silent, before sighing.

"All right." he said.

"Take a seat." he told her.

"You're going to get a MASSIVE rush of knowledge." he warned as she sat down.

"It'll take a moment to get your head back together." he said further.

"Ready?" he asked.

When she nodded, he snapped his fingers, and she instantly knew EVERYTHING that Aedan and Cain's test proved.

Erica nodded before taking a seat, not sure what it was that was going to come next.

By the time that Hal knew it would have ended, she just leaned forward, her elbows on her knees.

". . . that...." She started before shaking her head.

"That was torture." She then said. "Just... not pleasant." She added with another light shake of her head.

She met his gaze after about two minutes before sighing.

"well, I now know that my mana got duplicated awhile ago." She told him honestly, sitting back in the chair.

"Yeah, it's never pleasant." Hal sighed.

"Just something you have to deal with." he muttered.

"But your mana was duplicated?" he asked.

"That is a very rare occurrence." he commented.

"And it's quite concerning."

"Explains the tether check result." Erica said before sighing, heavily.

"the only question I have left, is how this is happening, as I don't have a global reach. Basic bricks act as a good enough insulator, and I rarely get outside of a room." She added before shaking her head.

"I'm not sure what it is that is going on, exactly, but..." She started, trailing off.

"But it... I..." She tried to continue before shaking her head, voice faltering as she tried to collect her thoughts.

And failed.

It wasn't something too unusual by this point, she was used to this happening at least a couple of times a day lately, but usually she wasn't in front of her bloody boss. Sadly, that didn't matter. She couldn't stop it.

It seemed like her brainpower was just... shut off or something for the moment.

Hal was silent for a moment as Erica... drifted off again.

"....?" he was a bit confused by this, as he'd never seen it before.

"Erica?" he asked.

"....Erica." he said further, getting up and making his way closer to her.

"This is concerning as well." he mumbled.

"I've never seen this happen." he went on.

He then checked to see if she was all right, and finding that she was still breathing, sighed heavily.

"...nothing to do but see when she returns."

Erica was silent, almost vacant, for longer than would be ideal. It was quite a sight to see, really. A young woman who was normally so spunky and lively, almost seemed to be gone. At least until she shook her head with a groan.

". . . dammit." She muttered before looking around, taking stock in everything that was going on. When she saw Hal sitting in the chair next to her, she sighed, heavily.

"How long, this time?" She asked, her voice both embarrassed and slightly annoyed.

Hal raised an eyebrow.

"THIS time?" he asked.

"Your level of calmness about this is quite alarming." he told her.

"But, since you asked, and have a right to know, I'd say you were 'gone' for between 2-3 minutes." he informed her further.

"Now let us back up for one moment." he said.

"How long has this been happening, and is this a common length of time for it to occur?" he asked her.

"Because such an occurrence is not something to ignore, especially when it's one such as yourself, who has never experienced anything like this in the past." he then reasoned.

Erica just sighed as Hal said all he did.

"Yeah, I'm not... sure how long, h onstly." She admitted.

"I just noticed it starting to happen after I found I was able to use my mana actively." She added.

"Just... I've been told that they aren't super frequent, but they do stop me in my tracks. I just... wish I knew what it is that is happening."

"That is, indeed, concerning." he said.

"Perhaps you should see someone about that. Someone more... professional, and capable, when it comes to matters such as these." he suggested.

"...assuming you can in the future, anyway." he clarified.

"With what's happening, that... might not be viable. Or anything else, for that matter."

Erica paused, aquiring a bit of a puzzled expression for a moment before shaking her head.

"Right! Ok. so .... Aedan, Can, and I - at least, maybe more... I dunno - are going to be working on fashioning something to help with this." She told him.

"considering the fact that I was able to pull it off you, and all."

"Indeed." he replied.

"You WERE able to help me." he admitted.

"If you can come up with some way to mass-replicate that effect, then good luck to you." he went on.

"Now. Is there anything I can do to help with that?" he asked.

"Bearing in mind, you and the alchemists have direct access to the lab." he reminded her.

'For the moment, just hte lab access." Erica said after a moment of thinking about it.

"Beyond that... I'll let you know if anything comes up. AS it stands, I'm quite simply put, not entirely sure." She admitted.

"I'm not an alchemist, I don't know what will be entailed."

He was then silent, before sighing once more and shaking his head.

"And when this is done, you're seeing someone about these spells of yours."

"Completely agree." She said.

"They haven't gotten in the way of life too severely yet, but... I realise that there is a serious potential for problems." She added.

"Anyway, if nothing else, I'm going to head back to the lachemists and see what can be done regarding this."

He then sighed once more, and shook his head.

"Ugh, this is just one big mess." he lamented.

"Yes. Yes it is." Erica agreed with a sigh before vanishing in a twist of those tendrils, again.

A couple of hours later, Erica stepped into the lab, wondering what was going on. She didn't know how anyone was doing there, and was almos tscared to find out.

"anyone around!?" She called as she stepped in,a nd found it largely empty at first glance

An almost deafening silence. It was like the lab was desolate and empty... almost... deserted.

However, after looking around, she swore she saw someone looking at her, peeking at her, from behind a wall in the distance.

And judging from the brown and green hair, it was Ilias.

He looked quite frightened.
