@0v7: Oh, I'm sorry. Dealing with insurance is never particularly fun, nor is being on the phone all day, and dealing with a gender affirmation team just sounds... extra tedious? (although I hope not, for your sake!)

When I was in Italy my most said phrase was vorrei un altro cappuccino per favore. Most of what I learned related to food in some way lmao.

@Wildfire: The good news is, the hormone replacement therapy clinic I wanted to go to is in-network!! It just took... 45 minutes of me calling them and answering questions for them to... guide me on how to find that out, lol

Si - un altro caffe per favore! e "grazie". e "dov'e ___"
I was both relieved and disappointed when most people spoke English to us by default, though. And more than a little surprised the couple of times they spoke Italian - especially after I did say something in Italian first!

Aah! So that IS good - congratulations - that's a really big deal for you 0v7 - or at least I'd think so!

Yeah same. They were just in general a really friendly country <3 The place where I lived wasn't a big tourist destination but they were still really sweet with me, and I was surprised by how manypeople spoke good English.

Congrats 0v7, happy for ya!

Well, CONGRATULATIONS! It is becoming a reality for you!!

Yes, I really want to go back... and spend time there, and traveling around!

I'm going to disappear for a while - just got a call from a friend and we're going to meet up and go for a walk in a local park. I kinda need to get out, so I'm going - BBL. Feel free to play hangman or something while I'm offline.

I'm back. The walk was great. Seeing my friend was great - the first time I've seen her since the start of the year (or even longer). And BONUS- I missed getting rained on (barely).

So who's around? Who wants to chat? Who wants to pick up the 20 Questions game? Or start a different game?

@Wildfire: I just got back from eating dinner!!

Sudden rain when you're out is no fun lol
One time it was clear as day about 5 miles away from home. 4 miles, it started sprinkling. 3 miles, it was a good rain. 1 mile, it was pouring sheets.
...I had to bring the groceries in, in the pouring rain - but first, I made a trip with our phones and such stuffed in my jacket so they didn't get wet.

Exactly. These storms can come flying in. I managed to avoid this one - both on the walk and getting in to the house, but there were spots where I was driving through some between the trail where we walked and home.

So how was dinner? What did you have? My dinner is in the oven

I had tacos, or well, tostadas with toppings >w>
I made homemade pico de gallo using tomatoes from the garden plus an onion from when we got a free food donation thru grandpa's job. It was good, despite the fact I ran out of lime juice >w>;;;

I had to check on dinner - chicken + baked potatoes and salad

Oh no! Running out of lime juice! LOL - I'm glad it was good. It sounds like it was good!

It was really basic, since my aunt cooked most of it. Seasoned ground beef, black beans, refried beans, sour cream, salsa, and of course my pico de gallo were all the toppings we had - also, there was plain white rice for some reason? If it were up to me, I would've seasoned the rice and meat better, plus add avocados as an optional topping - or maybe just guacamole.

Maybe it's more a matter of what they had on hand or what they thought about including. I know when I do a meal along these lines (tacos/burrito) I usually end up with a bit of a mix - some times there are things presented and other times they are not - just because I got caught up in chopping tomatoes I forgot to put the rice on, for example...

Not really, I know my aunt pretty well and she hates cooking, so she does the bare minimum. I'd offer to cook for her, but her husband and kids are so picky - they don't like anything that's seasoned, really - so it's white rice, plain black beans, plain refried beans... yet she says it's "authentic" Mexican food ?????

Oh no... I'm not sure authentic Mexican food is EVER bland!

It isn't ever bland, even the most basic thing like rice is seasoned well. Growing up Mexican, in a poor-ish Latine household, meant lots of cheap dinners (rice, beans, chicken) that tasted good, since they were really well seasoned. The most basic seasoning is annato, coriander, garlic powder, and onion powder - other variations are lime/cilantro anything (chicken and rice take to this combo well)... yet my aunt chooses uh, salt as a seasoning? Lol

It sounds like your aunt needs a heritage refresher? LOL!
Even I spice my food with more than just salt unless there's a dietary reason not to. But I have friends that sound a lot like your aunt with bland everything, all the time. Kids don't understand spices at all. I don't get it. There's no fun in eating or in cooking bland food.
