Jake laughed a little.

"Of course." he said.

"Leo's always working on new tech." he reasoned.

"So how have you been?" he asked.

"We say hi every day, pretty much, but rarely chat." he said.

"So how's life been for you?"

Jake sighed.

"It's stupid how people are still so bigoted... even to their own kind." he muttered.

"Human history is depressing." he said. "Sometimes I wonder why I even bothered to study it..." he went on, but then paused.

"Ah! Myself and Anya." he quickly said.

"We're doing all right." he told her.

"Still as healthy as ever, though she's dealing with a nightmare 'client'..." he admitted.

Jake chuckled.

"The 'client' is another demon she's working with in terms of liaison work, and he's just being difficult." he told her. "He keeps up, she may need to... 'coerce' him..." he mumbled.

"And yeah, I studied human history." he confirmed.

"I mean, I have a PhD in Sociology." he said.

"Knowing human history is quite useful for studying society's past, present, and 'predicting' its future."

"Ohhhh, please don't." Jake responded.

"I didn't get a PhD to be called 'Doctor'." he told her. "If that were the case, I wouldn't still be working at this job." he reasoned. "I'm perfectly happy just being Jake Pafford." he assured her.

"And I mostly studied it to blend in." he then said.

"So no, don't call me Doctor or anything." he reiterated.

"...but yeah, a PhD." he chuckled. "Sometimes -I- forget I have it!" he then laughed.

Jake groaned at being called 'Doctor', and shook his head.

"DON'T make that a thing..." he pleaded.

"And I've had it for... years." he said. "Years and years." he went on. "...centuries, really." he continued. "Back when I was still kind of new to integrating with human society for... real. Like, getting a job and career and crap." he said further.

"Also, yeah. It did." he confirmed.

"Was able to use it to stop people from finding myself out, and friends of mine." he informed her. "Sent them on a red herring trail. Odds are they ended up questioning their own sanity by the end of it." he laughed.

"It really would be." Jake agreed.

"And I do keep updating it." he told her. "Continuing education and all that." he said.

"It's honestly a fascinating... if a bit depressing... subject." he told her further, as Leo stepped through the doors and smiled.

"Hello!" he greeted them.

"Hey." Jake responded.

"I'm here to grab Lunet, as I'm sure she's said." Leo then chuckled.

"Ah-yup." Jake confirmed.

"Hey, I die." Jake responded. "Or, rather, I will." he then clarified. "It'll just take a long while. Reptiles generally have VERY long lives after all." he reasoned to her.

"And... to say I don't die is technically correct, but at the same time, isn't." Leo interjected.

"I already have." he mumbled.

"Anyway! Hi!" he then responded to Lunet.

"I'm good to go if YOU are." he told her.

"And you've given me food for thought." Jake then said. "I'll ponder what you said about a new degree."

Jake let out another audible groan, and slowly put his head on his desk.

"Doctor?" Leo asked.

"DON'T." Jake responded bluntly and loudly.

"...right then." Leo mumbled, before looking at Lunet.

"All right, let's go." he said. "You want anything before we head back to your place?" he asked. "Like something from the coffee shop that's a minute away from here?" he offered.

"Or just head to your home?"

"All right, let's go then." Leo said.

"Bye, then!" Jake called to them as they left the area and went outside.

"...you really ARE a bit of scamp, aren't you?" Leo asked Lunet.

"Something tells me you JUST discovered that." he said further.

"And you were tormenting him, weren't you?" he asked her with a light chuckle.

Leo just laughed again.

"Lunet, you're one in a million." he said.

"So, whatcha want?" he asked.

"Hot or cold drink?" he asked her. "And want a pastry or something to go with?" he asked further.

"On me, of course."
