Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

"Sadly, at the moment, it IS all we can do." Ash responded.

"Would any of them come after us?" Lindsay asked.

"Both myself and Casey are potential targets." Ash said. "Myself because I fought a Fallen earlier and defeated him, and Casey because she's the strongest necromancer in the friggin' WORLD." he explained.

"Plus. phoenixes may be troublesome for them." he added.

"Wouldn't Sammy going to the vampires just put THEM in danger?" Lindsay then countered.

"A valid argument, but portal mana can get them away from danger VERY efficiently." Ash replied. "Plus, it's less of a beacon for either of you, as 2 phoenixes shine brighter than one." he reasoned.

"...I cannot argue that." Lindsay admitted.

Casey was silent for a moment before sighing, heavily, resting her head on her hand, and elbow on the table.

"This is a cluster fuck of a situation, and part of me thinks I should just fuck off for while." She admitted.

"And spare me my pessimistic attitude bullshit. I mean it. I'm probably going to be a target, I bridge the gap between the realms Far better than any other decromancer, and for that matter, I can go to any of the realms, while most can't." She continued.

"I would not be surprised if the Fallen end up wanting me, to get the TO heaven."

"She has a point." Ash replied.

"...but where?" Lindsay asked. "Where will you go?" he asked her.

"Where CAN you go?" he then inquired.

"..." Ash was silent, before sighing.

"He has valid questions. You have any ideas where someone like you can lay low?" he agreed.

"And if so, you feel like sharing?"

Casey didn't say anything for a couple of minutes before just sighing, again.

"I'd probably take up Rowena's, or Vincent's life, years ago" She answered.

"By that I mean... I'd go nomadic." She added.

"I know wherever I go would be meaning trouble for there, if I stayed too long, after all. So ... yeah. I'd just go nomadic, I think."

"...I don't like that." Lindsay growled.

"But she has a point." Ash sighed.

"Casey, you may need to keep a glamour or two on hand." he then told her.

"And wear mana blockers or something. You'll need to do ALL you can to blend in with... wherever you are." he continued.

"And what should WE do?" Lindsay asked.

"...fight for survival." Ash responded darkly.

"I'll go to Kiah. She's good with glamours, and the best I know." Casey commented before just shaking her head.

"I don't know what to do here." She admitted.

"This... This is going to cause so many problesms. Are you two going to be able to handle life alone? It's going to be you two and Ashleigh here, I think. That's all."

Ash paused for a moment.

"...right." he said.

"No response yet." he mumbled.

"Guess I'll have to try and call her." he sighed, picking up his phone again.

He then hit the call button on Ashleigh's contact, and put the phone to his ear.

Sure enough, Ash didn't get an answer. Casey just looked over to Ash as he hung up, frustrated.

"Nothing?" She asked.

"Nada." was his answer.

"I'll go check if she's even alive, You know that I can do THAT at the very least. She commented as she got to her feet.

"Give me all of five minutes. At least I can find out if she's still alive,. Probably a rough idea for location too."

"Please." Ash said.

"I just want to know if she's dead or alive." he told her.

"If she's alive, that's enough for me." he muttered.

'...wow.' Lindsay thought.

'I've not seen Ash THIS concerned in... a very long time...' he thought further, before sighing quietly.

"...this is just a mess..." he massively understated.

Casey didn't say anything before nodding and heading off to do what it was that she knew she needed to do. This was never ideal to do, but she was essnetially just scrolling with a sense for a soul, instead of connecting to 'them' as was usually done by those she knew.

She made her way upstairs and to the spare room that was Rowena's when she lived there, and grabbed the maps and set them up on the table ahead of her. First, it was a world map, nothing detailed. All she wanted, was to identify which continent for the moment. Once it was flat, she just put her hand son the table, and map, at the corners, and concentrated. If anyone was there, they could literally see her mana around her hands. It looked like deep violet, almost black, electricity coursing over the map, around her hands, up her arms, and everywhere around her. It remained like that for nearly three minutes before it focused on one area; Spain.

She grabbed a map of the country, which took a minute to find, before doing the same thing, focusing in on it and trying to have her mana locate Ashleigh's soul.

And she did. Once she had her answer, she left the room and headed back downt to he boys, knowing that her mana was likely going to be at least uncomfortable, but she'd keep her distance.

"She's around the northernmost point of the Pyrenees" She told Ash honestly.

my little jokes on thee...

Ash paused when she said that, and thought for a moment.

"...that makes sense, I think." he said.

"You think?" Lindsay asked.

"I can't remember the species exactly, but I recall what she was after was in Spain." Ash replied.

"Didn't know it was at THAT point, but... hmmm." he mumbled, scratching his chin.

"But she's alive?" he asked Casey.

"As far as I can tell, yes." Casey answered honestly.

"I can't tell you if she's hurt or anything, but she's either alive, or her soul is refusing to move on. It's there, and clinging to her body, if nothing else." She added.

"However, I'm reasonably certain that yeah. She's alive. I got a sense of ire from her too, if I'm being honest." She added with a light laugh.

Ash laughed as well, clearly feeling a lot better.

"Her quarry must be giving her some trouble then." he said. "Perhaps it led her to those mountains, and she is NOT happy about it." he continued.

"Would explain the lack of an answer, too." Lindsay then commented. "She has exceptional cell service, but it has it's limits. And she may have her phone off entirely to prevent any errant noise from alerting her hunt." he went on.

"Extremely possible, plausible, and viable." Ash agreed.

"Thanks, Casey." he then said to the necromancer.

"I feel better now."

"Happy to help." Casey commented before sighing lightly and tossing an orb of her mana at Lindsay. When he caught it, and had a bit too much of a jolt for Ash to handle.

"Since... I likely won't be around, use that to check for her again if you want an update." She told Ash.

"Should be able to get two more checks on Ashleigh with that orb." She added

"Wow, that's strong." he said.

"...odds are I won't be able to handle it right now." Ash muttered.

Casey was silent for a moment.

"I'm going to go pack up a travel bag." There was a heaviness to her voice. She didn't want to do this, and she knew that even with her commissions, she really didn't make THAT much money. Really, it was brothers and Ashleigh to brought the money into the house.

"I'm probably going to leave just before dawn, or something. I don't know. God I don't want to go." She admitted.

"I need to stay untraceable though."

"..." Lindsay was silent for a moment, before gently setting the orb down on a special disc on a nearby table. One of many they had to set things like mana orbs down on... temporarily... and made his way over.

He then wrapped his arms around her, and held her close.

"Casey..." he said quietly.

"I love you." he told her.

Ash was silent as well, before narrowing his eyes.

"I'm going to help you." he told her. "And I refuse to accept 'no' for an answer." he stressed. "Because I think I know JUST what to do to help make this a smidgen easier for you."

Casey returned the embrace.

"I love you too Lindsay." She said before sighing.

"Just.. one of you two, wire me some money every so often." She said, in reference to what Ash was saying.

"And I won't stop you. I know that I don't have enough in my account to make this last long term." She added as she pulled back from Lindsay.

"Beyond that, I have no idea. If you have places I can hide out, that'd be grand too."

"Oh, and I'm going to have a tablet, and my phone, on me. Don't worry about contact, you shopuld be able to contact me, at the very least."

"Lindsay, go into my room and grab the small black safe that's under my bed." Ash told his brother.

"Got it." Lindsay replied, quickly stepping out of the room.

"Casey, there is no reason you have to be homeless throughout all this." Ash told Casey. "As I said, I know for certain I can give you TWO things that will help you." he went on.

"Things that are a secret from... well, everyone else." he continued.

"Even Ashleigh."

"I... planned to be camping and hiding out in hotels, motels, inns, or whatever." She commented. "AirBnB, even."

".... but... what are you talking about?" She then asked, definitely very curious.
