Forgive, O Lord,
my little jokes on thee...

Before Ash had a chance to answer, Lindsay returned with the small safe in his hands. He brought it over to Ash, who placed his hand on the door, pulsed his mana into it, and it swung open.

The first thing he brought out looked to be a small rolled up scroll, which he handed to Casey.

"An enchanted map." he said. "When you unfurl it, it uses its mana to tell you where you are in the world, and you can zoom in and out as you please, using tablet-like controls." he told her. "But the special part about it is that it marks little cabins and hideaways I have scattered throughout the world." he then informed her. "So you'll always be able to find some remote place to hide if you need to." he went on.

The next thing he took out was a credit card, which glowed in his hand for a moment... before he then handed it to her. When she took it, it glowed with her own mana for a brief moment, and she saw the field for the signature on the back had HERS there.

"And this is a special pre-loaded credit card." he said. "It was registered to my mana, but I withdrew it, and it now recognises yours, hence the signature. If anyone but you tries to use it, it'll not work." he went on.

"There's $100,000 on it." he finished.

"Ash... why do you have these?" Lindsay asked.

"...in case there ever came a day when -I- needed to disappear." Ash told him. "I had that contingency plan in place a long time ago, but... well, changes in my life have made it that hiding in such a way would be impossible." he explained further. "But I kept them just in case they might be needed, even if not by myself." he finished.

...and I'll forgive thy
great big one on me.

Casey was silent before looking to Ash.

"Thank you... so much." She said, her gratitude was extremely apparent.

"Don't kid yourself, I will repay you later. Whatever I use from this." She promised.

"For now... I need to go pack." She added, her voice quiet.

"I'll help." Lindsay told her quietly.

"I would as well, but... pretty sure I need to not do anything stressful right now, physically speaking." he chuckled.

"You had better come back and give me a hug before you go, though!" he then warned Casey.

Lindsay just smiled as he heard Ash say that.

"We should tell Sammy what's going on we well." he then told her.

"Make sure she knows what you'll be doing, and that she should head to Jaden and Desiree's." he reasoned.

"Don't worry, Ash. I'm not leaving til morning." Casey said.

"I want to make sure I at least get some good sleep before heading out." She added with a light chuckle.

"Anyway, come on Lindsay, let's go. I'll ... approach Sammy about it in a little bit."

"Well, all right then." Ash responded.

With that, Lindsay and Casey made their way up to their room, where they first sat on their bed for a moment.

"...I never thought something like this could happen." Lindsay muttered.

"But we need to keep in touch." he told her.

"If nothing else, we need to keep reminding each other we're alive, and here for each other." he went on.

"...I wish it didn't have to come to this, but I can't argue with the reasoning behind your decision." he then admitted, and she could hear how he hated that. He didn't want her to leave, to 'disappear', but it WAS for the best. For now, anyway.

"Trust me, I don't want to go. However, you're going to be in enough danger as it is with your brother. I don't want to give them even more reason to attack the house." Casey commented. The weight to her voice could not be denied, at all.

"And of course. We will do video chats, send at least a few video messages that are short and sweet to show that we're still alive and kicking. Or rather, that you know I am. You... Dont die and stay dead." she then said before getting to her feet.

" I'm taking both my tablet and phone, along with means of charging, of course. Should ask ash for his solar battery too, or at least where he got it. Maybe I'll make a stop in Egypt to see if Leo has. I dunno. I'll figure it out as I go." she said before sighing, heavily.

[b" I love you, so much, and I'm sorry."[/b]

---

She arrived at the doors bright and early, having had the fyrane boys send her, before stepping out of the small room meant for mana transport.

" Hey." she greeted the one behind the desk and glass, a weight to her voice, a hat on her head despite the heat, and her travel bag on her back. It was extremely full, as well.

"Is Kiah Remington in yet?"

Lindsay rose to his feet as well, and pulled her into another hug.

"I love you too." he said. "And don't apologise." he then said further. "This is something that just has to be done right now. But we'll get through this. We have to." he told her.

He then continued to hold her for another moment, before letting go, and helping her pack.

This would be their last night together in who-knew how long. He intended to spend as much time as possible with her.

---

The one behind the desk looked over towards her, and a serpentine tongue darted out of his mouth. He was then silent for a moment, sitting up a little more properly and looking her over.

"She is." he confirmed.

"...I'm guessing she isn't expecting you." he then assumed.

"I will page her and let her know you're here, looking for her."

Casey just sighed, heavily.

"No... she really isn't." She commented.

"However, I doubt she'll be surprised." She added. "we are family after all, technically."

"So.. yeah. If you'd be so kind."

Jake sighed and pressed the intercom button.

"Dr. Remmington, please page security, you have a visitor." he said into it, before releasing the button.

"Have to wait for her to call back and confirm she wants a visitor right now." he told her.

And that was when she called back, and he put her on the speakerphone.

"A visitor?" Kiah asked.

"It's Casey." Jake said, motioning for Casey to speak up if she needed or wanted to.

"Hey Kiah." Casey started.

"I .... need your help. You're the best I know at glamours, and I'll pay any priuce to get a couple of different ones off you so I can change 'em up. I can explain when we see each other face to face." She said simply. Kiah was silent for a few seconds before sighing, heavily.

"All right. I'm good if someone wants to bring you down. I can't leave at the moment, or I'd come grab ya myself." Kiah said simply.

"Thanks, Kiah." Casey said, gratitude in her voice.

"All right, I'll get someone to escort her-" Jake started to say, before Hal stepped through the inner door.

"Perhaps I can be of some assistance?" he asked, leaning against the frame.

"...someone just showed up." Jake told Kiah, before the call was ended.

"Hey boss." he said to Hal.

"Hi Jake." Hal responded, before looking to Casey.

"I can only assume this isn't a social call?" he asked her, as Jake sat back, seeing as Casey was free to go inside now.

Casey looked over to Hal.

"Hey Sharp." She greeted, knowing he wasn't the most fond of people casually using his 'given' name when he was at work.

"and... no. It's not." She admitted before looking to Jak.

'Thanks. If you and Anya don't know already, shit's getting real. Take care of yourself, and her." She said before stepping up to Hal.

"Lead the way."

"We know." Jake responded.

"We got a visit from someone VERY in the know about it." he said, a little unease to his tone, but she could tell he was doing his best to try and keep calm. And for the most part... he was doing a damn good job of it.

"Let's go, then." Hal said to Casey, as the two left security.

"So. What can we help you with?" he asked.

"I'm guessing you're looking for some things to help you survive, if you're headed to our R&D department?"

"Yeah... glamours." Casey answered.

"I'm the strongest necromancer on the planet. Period." She continued.

"Don't know for certain, but that's a decent chance that they will need me in order to create a bridge between this realm, and above." There was fear to her voice, but it wasn't overly apparent. If anything, it was surprisingly subdued.

"So... I want to see if Kiah can help me out with a couple of accessories with different glamours, or something that will just randomise my appearance for the day, or something." She continued. "Something to help me hide, while I'm just... on the run, essentially."

Hal heard what she said, and sighed heavily.

"This is the world we live it now, unfortunately." he said.

"But we at the Unit will do what we can to help you." he assured her.

"Is there anything you need financially?" he asked.

"Ash helped me out with a card he had for in case shit got real, and it should keep me afloat for ... awhile, at least." Casey answered honestly.

"I ... don't know how long, but for awhile. Hopefully longer than needed." She added before pausing a moment, her steps slowing as something occured to her. She knew what he was, and she debated asking for his help in a way that only he could do. However, she didn't want to detour for somewhere more private at the moment, since it was already a bit later than she wanted to try and get a start on being somewhere people would not connect her.

"Beyond that, I'm not sure. I just wish it was possibly to increase my luck and chances for survival, really. Or suppress my mana, because I know that'll be a beacon." She said. It would, to anyone else, sound like an offhand comment, but she knew Hal was smart.

When he looked over to her, he could see that she both meant what she said, and would not hold it against him if it was something he couldn't do for whatever reason. But she would definitely appreciate if he could help her out in that regard.

"I see." Hal responded.

"Well, I know we live in a world of miracles, but sometimes you just can't make a wish and have it-" he started to say, before he rose his hand up. "-granted..." he continued, snapping his fingers. "...just like that." he finished.

Instantly, Casey felt... something.

She almost felt like there was a shroud over her, but she was clearly not wearing one. Nor did anything LOOK different. But she felt it. And she also felt somehow... a little more lighthearted and... slightly carefree. Barely.

"I'm not sure how well such a thing would protect against those of the celestial realm, but... I do hope you do well out there." he then said, looking at her.

When she looked back, he winked.

Casey didn't say anything, just mouthed 'thank you' to him. She didn't want to say anything, just in case someone would overhear and that could lead to a path she was sure that he didn't want to deal with.

"I assume you know everything going on, though." She then said after a moment or two.

"Honestly, I'd like to just stay here, as I'm reasonably certain that even here would be better than home - protections and all - but I doubt this place could stand up against 'em if they came wstormed the place or some shit. Especially since you have both celestials and infernals here. That just.... would give them evenMORE reason."

"You ARE free to come here whenever you like." Hal told her. "The protections and barriers I have up ARE some of the best. But given that Zeke, as well as his father and uncles and aunts, can bypass them, I don't know how well they'll hold up." he admitted.

"I HAVE been told that Fallen DO lose a significant amount of their power when they do fall, but they've never been this organised before, apparently." he went on.

"So this is all uncharted territory." he sighed.

He then placed a hand on one of her shoulders, gently draping his arm over her upper back.

"Good. Don't roll over." Casey said, her voice a bit harder than before.

"Don't give in." She added. "I would hate to know that the one place I have the most respect for, I think, just gave in and rolled over when the Fallen came knocking."

"Ah, right. 2 more things. 1: Do you know if Evan is working today? .... I want to stop by and see him before I leave, if he is." She said, a bit of emotion to her voice. Then again, she was talking about her son, and who knew when she would see him next as it stood.

"And thank you for the offer to stay here if need be, but I don't have the mana for transport - otherwise I cause problems - so... I'm just going to be staying in Europe I think. I should be largely out of the way there, and I doubt anyone would actually look for me there." She continued, pausing a moment. "So... since I won't gbe here, please, look out for my son. I do worry about him."
