@Totalanimefan: good luck for your exam!!
Cheap food is always good, especially if it’s from somewhere like Greggs that serves dessert items. I’m hungry for pastries now!!!

@Wildfire: oh wow that sounds amazing!!! And like you’d always have a supply of bananas on hand!

@sunny: Yeah, but my poor little guys need to keep growing first! I have a long way to go before I have home-grown bananas - lol XD :(

@Wildfire: oh dear XD how long until they fruit? I’m sure they’ll be worth the wait!

@sunny: lol - I was just reading up on that to refresh my memory. Apparently they take about 9 months to get big and to fruit. So... maybe in the fall, I'll have bananas? /shrug/ Gardening is weird. Fun. Rewarding. ...but weird. :3

@Wildfire: it sure is weird! It’s a learning curve for sure :)
Bananas in the fall sounds nice. At least it doesn’t take years to fruit, 9 months is pretty good turnaround time lol.

@sunny: Huuuuuuge learning curve!! But yeah, at least bananas are relatively quick on the rewards/fruiting side of things. Avocado, however, is an example that can take 10+ years to produce fruit...

@Wildfire: 10 years??? Wow. I’ll think of that next time I eat an avocado. They are quite precious then!

@sunny: Yeah... 10 years. Maybe more. Silly avocados. I actually have an avocado tree in the back yard that is about 10 years old too... but it was planted as part of a science experiment with my kids when they were much younger and we just put the sprouted thing in the ground and proceeded to neglect it. So although it's about the right age to bear fruit, I'm not sure if the years of neglect will allow it to do so... when I'd (now) really like it to!!

We actually havea Greggs pretty close by, but I haven’t been in ages.

@Wildfire: lol maybe your past self planted that tree for this very moment xD if only it would fruit…..

Voltie Posted 3 years ago ( 2022/06/13 23:24:04 )
@sunny: lol - maybe. I keep looking at it and wondering if there's anything I can do to help it fruit/flower/thrive now... but I think it's probably too late... it has been really neglected (barely watered most of the time, no fertilizer, which they apparently need a lot of), and it's not in the best spot (it needs more sun)... but maybe...??? *crosses fingers*

@Wildfire: maybe! Maybe fate will shine on you and give you fruit lol. It survived this long, it must be a tough plant!!

@sunny: I love the optimism! <3 Maybe... let's hope. How cool would it be to have your own avocados growing in your yard, huh??? XD

@Wildfire: so cool, and so convenient. You could always pick them at perfect ripeness. The ones you get in the store are either unripeand super hard, or too ripe and halfway to rotting.

@Wildfire: I'm doing pretty well, just played a short but good game that's free on steam called Arruya (it's a spanish game, but has english and i think basque translations.) It's a horror game, which i don't normally play, but this one was pretty good.
