@Totalanimefan: yes it does...

@Totalanimefan: Yeah. I don't even have the bandwidth to think of dealing with the books right now, tbh (beyond what I've already done). The other stuff needs to be taken care of first... and if my son doesn't do his part of this process soon (he's being a bottleneck), there's going to be a lot of furniture and other stuff waiting on the sidewalk, available to whomever wants it (I'll probably call a local charity to pick it up, actually)...
@Totalanimefan: Yeah, I know. I have passed on a lot of furniture that way in the past...
And yes, he'd better start prioritizing (according to MY list; not whatever his might be right now) XD

@Totalanimefan: OMFG ROFLMAO... uhhh... nooooooooooo.... why would he? /eyeroll/
I'm gonna hafta kick his 6'2" ass (I'm only 5'4/5'5")... >.>
... I'm not a yeller/screamer by nature... but omg, I wonder if that particular skillset would be helpful right about now... x.X ... but I'm going to give him a couple of more days and be more obvious about my "leading by example" before I take out the proverbial whip...

@Sumire: Glad to hear you both worked on it. Are you talking about arroz con gandules?! I love that so much and haven't had it in a long time. I can definitely see how that would be comforting for you. I remember one of my friend's boyfriends bringing coquito and arroz con dulce to a Christmas feast we had one year. Not sure quite yet. I'm still working on a menu and need to hear from a few other people about what they are going to bring this year, going to be having a call tonight with them.

@Lotus: Waaait, you know arroz con gandules? Yes, that's what I was talking about haha a bit hard to translate some of these things to English honestly. It is soooo good! I made it for Thanksgiving for the first time by myself and was surprised at how good it turned out. That along with the pernil, coquito and tembleque will definitely make it feel like home. :3 And oooh, you guys are having a full house for Christmas then, eh? Finally figured out the menu or? Sounds like it'll be a blast!
@Sumire: Happy to hear it turned out well, did you try a new recipe? I was checking to see who was making what for Christmas this year so there would be various foods and not a lot of confusion for everyone. n_n
@Totalanimefan: He's almost 20... and LOL, no. Well, maybe. We're all working on it (on him). It's not about just listening to his parents and doing what he's told at this point though... the greater lessons we're trying to impart are more about "doing your part when you're living with other people" and "stepping up in to those (real) adult responsibilities". He's getting there, and there's a tiny bit of progress being made... just not what really needs to happen, on the scale or timetable that it needs to happen...
@Lotus: I did look for recipes, but it was also my first time making it. I didn't cook a lot before, since I was with my mom and she was usually the one wanting to cook haha so now I get to try more and more things so every time I make something I hadn't made by myself before I get excited and proud. :3 When I did cook it was things my mother wasn't into, like Korean food and such, so it's exciting to be able to learn to cook traditional dishes from back home. And oooh sounds like it'll be quite the feast then! Hope you'll enjoy it. ^_^
@Sumire: As you should, maybe she could give you her recipe for you to make for this Christmas? n_n
@Totalanimefan: Yup. And at least here, he gets the discussion and education part of it... not just the emotional screaming bit that too many people (IMO) seem to resort to XD
@Totalanimefan: Yeah, I got that. Hubby has made the same points to Son. It seems to have helped a little bit...
... I meant the "yelling" that a random room-mate might be more tempted to do, than the loving guidance that we parents are trying to give him,...
Maybe a kick in the ass wouldn't hurt, especially if it gets to the point where his behavior starts affecting your relationships negatively.
For December, I guess I'm just looking for new scenery.

@Totalanimefan:
Hopefully will be, so ready for time off work.
Even it is only 3 to 4 days off.

LOL - oh, I'm not beyond the idea of "tough love"! Sometimes it's necessary and honestly, we're kinda getting to that point... but this kid has been through the ringer the last several months and is finally settling down again in to healthier patterns, etc., so I'm trying to give him every opportunity to do things "adult-like" XD
... and no, no updates today. He hasn't been feeling well, apparently, and he wrenched his back so has been sitting with the heating pad for a good part of the day...

@Totalanimefan: Thanks - I hope he feels better soon too. I hope you're feeling better now...??
ha ha ha!
Are we all using heating pads these days? I was just laying on one last night myself. I splurged and bought a new one and I'm quite fond of it! It has a timing function, and ten different heat levels--I've only been able to withstand a 6 or a 7; I can't imagine the magma of a 10. It's completely encased in a soft outside and it's still has a lot of movement when it's not heated. My last one was this incredibly cheap one that had a thin pillow-case like cover. On the plus side, you could wash the cover easily, but the downside was that the pad was inflexible, a single temperature, and had a tendency to unclip from power easily.
Ah, I also accidentally burned myself with the old one. I hadn't even realized until my partner saw me in the washroom with these lines across my back like I had laid down on a barbecue grate. It didn't hurt, I think I just caused some blistering on the surface like the blood vessels got too hot.

@blue: good heating pads are essential. I haven't needed one in a while, but my son is definitely using one today. I just bought a new one too, actually. It's nice to have extra levels of heat as an option, and a timer / auto-turn-off :3
@Totalanimefan: You do realize that I'm older than you are, right?? XD
Yeah, there are times when the dog sleeps with me and it's pretty obvious that's why I'm in pain the next morning. I'd kick him out of bed, but in that half-asleep mode, it's hard to do that without completely waking yourself up...and that's no fun at all!!
