Can't do that. I only have a ride for Saturday, and the panels I wanted to go to are on Friday. Oh well I guess lol. Still get to see my friends, and that's pretty worth it.

Off and on for a few years now, my first con was like the second or third year of the one I'm going to this weekend. Way back in 2008-09, lol it's come a long way since then. It's a local convention that's free to everyone.

Oh wow. xD I wish our cons were free for all.. I went to one at a library that might have been free, but it was barely a con.. And it may have had a fee, I can't remember cause it was forever ago. Still my first con though so I loved it.
It's run by the anime club at the university nearby, and is held on the campus. So that helps with the cost, this year I donated to their indiegogo which also helps keep it free. For the first few years it wasn't all that special and had a bad reputation. But after the club had an overhaul in leadership, it got pretty cool. One year I believe they had a live blacksmithing demo. I didn't get to go that year though.
Oh that's really cool. =] I'm glad it started taking off after they fixed it. A blacksmithing demo seems really interesting, but I don't see what it has to do with anime. o.O
