Allen lifted his head when she spoke, and nodded lightly. "This is where I stay most of the day, finding new remedies to make, and sell in the market. People used to come here, to have a remedy made if doctors wouldn't see them, but that was before.." He answered her casually, lowering his head some. He appreciated that she didn't ask about the East wing very much.

"I would rather not show you my bedroom, it's bound to be a wreck." He said, smirking lightly. With how often he threw things, he could only imagine what kind of shape his room was is.. That and he didn't want to run the possibility of scaring her off.

Oh? He sold his remedies in town? What had made them stop coming though? That, was a question she was too afraid to ask. It was a very personal one, something he would share if he ever wanted to and felt comfortable enough to do so. She walked around, looking at all the herbs and ingredients on the bookshelf. Some she could name in her head but there were others that she had no clue what they were.

She chuckled softly, nodding her head. "Oh, it's alright Allen, I understand." Privacy was important you see. "Allen, is this where you keep the remedies as well?" She asked and realized that was probably a silly question. "Y-you'll have to forgive me. I don't own any herbal remedies so I wouldn't know where one stores them. It is why I ask. B-because you clearly enjoy making them and I'd like to learn about the things you like so much." She commented nervously.

Allen smiled when he heard the chuckle that came from her. She understood. He tilted his head curiously at her question, then nodded lightly with a small smirk. "It certainly is." He shook his head lightly and paused, by the time she finished speaking. She wanted to learn..about the things he liked..? No one ever made that kind of comment. Allen drew his hand back. "Would you like to see how I make my remedy?" The one he often made for his eyes, that is. He needed to mix it anyway here soon.

Kaneko was more than thrilled when Allen asked if she wanted to see how he made the remedy. "Oh? Could I really?" She asked with a soft gasp, her hands clasped together. "I would love to watch you work. I promise to watch in silence as to not to distract you." She promised. The last thing he needed was a distraction. To see him work, it didn't seem like a big deal but to her it was. Watching someone work always fascinated her ever since she was a little girl. Whenever a repairman would come to the house when she was younger, she would watch them fix the AC or whatever it was. Strange wasn't it? It depended on who you asked.

Allen was quiet amused by her reaction. She really was a curious human. He couldn't keep his chuckle quiet, and offered her a smile. "Come, then." He said, inviting her to watch him work. He wandered the room until he found his work table, and waited until he could smell her nearby. Allen already had the stuff he needed out on the table, from the other night. All he needed to do was grind the herbs, add the extra ingredient and mix it together.

So, he first got the herbs he needed and gradually tore them to pieces, making sure none were too big or too small. Next he put a couple of pinches of the torn herbs and dropped them in the marble mortar he had set aside and ground them up into a dust with the pedestal, since the herbs were dried after all. He then added a drop of a clearish liquid from a very small bottle, in which, much like a chemical, emitted a small bit of smoke when added to the herbal dust. Allen added the mixture to a small glass of red wine, or that's what he would call it, and mixed it. The 'wine' became a lighter color, indicating it was done. It did put off a hint of a smell, but only Allen could notice it. It's how he knew he had made it right. "And that my friend, is how it's done." He said, smirking lightly.

Kaneko smiled, happy that Allen was really going to show her how this was done. She walked to the table and stood by, watching every little thing he did. She kept true to her word, watching him work in silence. It was like watching anyone at work when she was younger but this was more personal, perhaps because she was the only one here. Her parents weren't around asking questions.

The sound of the pestle grinding the herbs against the mortar could be heard and she gasped softly, raising a hand to cover her lips when the wisp of smoke rose from the mixture after he had added a clear liquid. She thought it was water, but clearly that wasn't it at all. Kaneko's eyes were glued to his work from beginning to end. When he was finished, she was silent. Her hand fell to her side, a grin on her face to show how happy she was. "That was such a treat to watch Allen. Really it was." She looked at the finished product. This was a remedy, a remedy he made thousands of times probably and sold to people. "Thank-you so much for allowing me to watch." She said, resting a hand on his shoulder gently. "What remedy did you make just now? Is this one that you sell in the market?" Kaneko asked, curious as ever.

Allen lifted his head in her direction some when she spoke, smiling. "Glad you enjoyed it." He said, shaking his head lightly. "You're quite welcome, miss Kaneko." He said calmly. Allen was bubbling inside, having someone near him and watching him with interest. He shook his head lightly when she asked about the remedy.

Allen sighed softly and moved to carefully picked up the glass of 'wine' and brought it up for her to really see it. "This is actually the one I use, for my eyes.." He explained quietly. Allen carefully set the glass down and leaned against the table.

Kaneko nodded. "I really did. There is something wonderful about watching someone work. I do not know what it is. Perhaps it is the attention to detail. Or how the person does it with such ease, never once faltering." She said in a hushed tone. Her eyes examined the glass from where she stood as he held it up for her to see, it looked really nice. The color was really pretty actually. Kaneko blinked a few times when he told her which remedy it was. The one for his eyes. The one he said he didn't need last night. "I see. Was this the one you were making at the park then when we first met?" She wondered if he'd get annoyed with all of her questions. She didn't ask them in order to annoy him, she asked because she was curious. Truth was, she wanted to know more about him. Well, whatever he felt comfortable telling her since she was too shy to ask questions most of the time.

Allen paused when she asked if it was what he was working on when they met at the park. He had to think a moment, that had been a very difficult night for him. Hence the tree. "Technically." He answered. "I was prepping the herbs for when I got home, so most of the work was done." He explained casually, not bothered by her questions in the least. He was rather fond of her questions, being alone for as long he had been, and no one ever took an interest in him.

"I'll tell you this now, you are welcome here any time you want." Allen said to her quietly. The pain in his eyes becoming apparent, and the only he did was lower his head some and raise a hand to his bandages.

Kaneko listened carefully and watched his behavior. "I see, well that's a smart move." She admitted and giggled. If she made them, she would have done the same thing too honestly. Best to get ahead rather than rush to get it done later. She was glad to see that he didn't seem bothered by her questions. It was probably a nice change of pace for him.

Her eyes widened at the last comment he made. He was allowing her to visit him whenever she wanted? "R-really?" She asked and fought the urge to hug him. It was probably for the better though because seeing him closely, something seemed off. "Allen? Are you okay?" Kaneko asked and knelt down to look up at him. "Is it your eyes? W-why don't you take the remedy?" There was nothing wrong with taking a remedy if you needed it. It was medicine of the older times. Just like people took medicine nowadays, he took his remedies. Well, she hoped so. Last time she mentioned it he was insistent that he didn't need it.

Allen nodded lightly to confirm her question. "Yes. You're the first friend I've had since the others left.. I had lived with many others, before I lost my sight. They saw me as a hindrance and one by one they left.. No one wanted to deal with a sickly cripple." He murmured quietly. He had been a noble before he lost everything, but now he was nothing. He was lucky to get spat on nowadays. Allen grit his teeth slightly and exhaled slowly.

Allen carefully picked up the small glass and raised it up just enough for him to faintly smell it. "Yes, you're right.." He murmured quietly. "Cheers." Allen smirked some before downing it like a shot of liquor. He set the empty glass down and slowly wandered to the bed and leaned against it. It would take a minute to take affect, and when it did he would know. "Can you make it back..?" He asked her, his voice hushed.

Hearing his story, it made Kaneko mad that his supposed friends would leave when he needed them the most. She narrowed her eyes, if she had them in front of her she would slap every single one of them. How could they just up and leave him here all alone? "Well I'm not going to leave you. That's not what friends do. Friends look out for each other, they do whatever they can." She explained. Sure she couldn't stay here, she knew that but she wasn't going to just vanish like the others did. Kaneko wasn't that type of person.

"Cheers." She repeated and watched him move to the bed. He probably wanted to rest now. The pain must take a lot out of him, or the remedy had side effects that made him drowsy. "I am pretty sure that I can." It coudln't be too hard to get back right? "You get some rest. I promise to visit you when I get the chance." She would even surprise him with food. Hopefully he didn't mind takeout. Though homemade was a lot better and healthier. It would depend on the time. "I s-should probably go then and let you get some sleep." She smiled softly at him.

Allen smiled a little at her comforting words. "Thank you.." He murmured. He would hug her if he knew he wouldn't fall over her. That would be troublesome. She had hugged him before, so she didn't mind them..right? As the remedy slowly started to take affect, he nodded lightly to her. "Be safe, these are woods after all. If you hear anything off, run." He said to her, not for trying to scare her. He just wanted her to be alert.

Kaneko nodded, "Hear anything off, run. Got it. Thanks for the tip." She answered and gave him a soft hug. "Sleep well. Bye-bye, talk to you soon." She said softly and reluctantly let him go before leaving him to rest. She slowly made her way down the creaking steps. Taking this time to look at the paintings on the wall as she walked past. Once she reached the front door, she turned the knob and stepped outside. Kaneko closed the door behind her and gave one last look at the large lonely looking house before carefully making her way back to town. She kept her ears alert, listening for any sounds that might be off.

Allen listened carefully, as her footsteps sounded through the manor. The remedy hadn't stressed him nearly as much as the previous night, perhaps because he had Kaneko to focus on. He waited until the door closed before plopping down on the bed and allowing his consciousness to fade as sleep claimed him.

Kaneko passed by the tree again and stopped, backed up a bit and looked at it. Really looked at it. Her hands tightly pulled her cardigan closer around her. Whatever had done that to the tree was really strong. It was frightening to think that it was probably still hanging around and maybe watching her now. Paranoia set in and off she ran as fast as she could, jumping over a fallen branch and looking silly doing. Her cardigan got caught a couple of times in her run, making Kaneko stop and struggle to free it from the branches' grasps.

The town came into view and she wondered if her father was still sleeping. Out of breath, Kaneko continued to run towards her house. With trembling hands, she unlocked the door and walked inside to the smell of coffee and breakfast. "Oh you're awake!" She gasped, seeing her father setting the table. "Of course I am. I saw your note. Had a nice walk?" He asked, although gave her a look that said, 'Are you alright?' Kaneko smiled and nervously clasped her hands behind her back. "Well...it was a nice walk but then it turned into a run." She explained and helped finish up setting the table. Her father nodded and served the breakfast and Kaneko served the drinks. She was going to work on laundry after this then take a nice hot bath and relax.

Allen laid there, his mind drifting to think about the only friend he had in this world. Kaneko, and their recent encounters. For once, his dreams were pleasant and not swirling nightmares stained with blood. Even in his dream he was blind, but at least he wasn't alone and suffering in silence. He didn't need to be afraid anymore, not of solitude.

Kaneko and her father enjoyed their breakfast, sharing in conversation. "What time do you go in today?" Her father asked. Kaneko shook her head though, she didn't plan on working today. "Too many other things to do. If I did go to work, I'd be late anyway. I have to do laundry since I wasn't able to yesterday. I might go later though, and just work extra hours again to make up for it. I'll let you know if I do that though. What about you? Going to be home late?" Kaneko asked her father then continued to eat her food quietly. "I'll try not to be late but you know that sometimes things don't go as planned." Her father explained.

After her father had left for work, Kaneko finished washing up the dishes and then started on the laundry. She wondered what Allen was doing. Hopefully he was getting plenty of sleep. He looked pretty tired after taking the remedy. Hopefully that did help with the pain. She wondered if there was possibly a remedy that prevent him from ever feeling that pain again. She didn't know though, she knew nothing when it came to herbal remedies and even if she wanted to learn, she wouldn't even know where to turn to. She doubted that the library had books on these things.

Allen slept for several hours, his pleasant dreams mutating into a nightmare. Kaneko had realized what he was, what he did, and went to her father, the man that couldn't kill him. He had fallen into a blood lusting frenzy and went after her, driven by the scent of her fear, and struck her down.

He awoke early evening, jolting upright and nearly hyperventilating. His pale skin damp with cold sweat, and he could smell blood. His blood. A shaky hand moved up and felt his cheek, a warm liquid from under his bandages. It was like he was crying blood, since he couldn't cry tears. Allen forced himself out of the bed, went and cleaned his face before leaving the manor. He needed to feed. Maybe on a rabbit or just a rare steak.

Laundry was done, folded, and put away. She had also finished her shower and was dressed in some navy blue skinny jeans and a simple black t-shirt. Nothing fancy. She wore her red converse. Not exactly the nicest outfit she owned but it wasn't like she was going anywhere right? Alone in the house, she decided to make herself something fast for lunch. "Something fast but filling..." She said to herself and decided she was going out after all. "Darn." She didn't want to leave the house but she needed to go to the store and grab a little something to make her meal. Or maybe.. "Takeout." She still had to go out for that though. What would be cheaper? Kaneko walked to her room and grabbed her purse then walked out the front door, deciding to grab some take out since it would be faster.
