You can die anytime...

Cordelia smiled and went over to stand with Cross, wondering how close they were to the next port,"See anything interesting, Cross?" She asked him, looking back out at the water around them. As much as she loved the sea, she was ready for a short break from it like getting back to another port. She knew it could be too soon though as they just left the other one. But either way she was excited to see what was next.

Cross lowered his spy glass and glanced at her briefly, then looked back out to sea. "Nothing in particular, the island is still a ways out there. We should get there by nightfall if sailing stays smooth." He said to her, lifting his spy glass to his eye once more. If not, they'd reach port early to mid morning. "How are you fairing, after that storm?" He asked her, lowering the spy glass and looking at her.

Cordelia listened to him speak and nodded quietly, thinking about things. When he asked how she was since that crazy storm, she nodded,"I'm alright." She said,"It's something that will take me a while to get use to... but I'm sure I will eventually." She looked over at him,"What about you? I know that probably wasn't something you wanted to deal with on the first day your with us." She looked back at the water,"I'm surprised the Captain didn't just grab a lifeboat at first." She couldn't wrap her head around the idea he had just dove in after her. She appreciated it more than she could ever say, but part of the reason she couldn't seem to believe it was because part of her denied that Andrew could ever really like her as more than just a best friend.

Cross chuckled and lightly pat the top of her head. "You'll get used to a lot of things out on the sea, but never a storm." He said casually, removing his hand and looking out to sea once more. "Don't you worry about me, lass." He said, shaking his head some and glancing at her. "As I mentioned earlier, you're precious to the captain- and by the time he would've gotten the life boat.. Who knows how far out the sea would've carried you." Cross said to her, his voice having a serious tone to it briefly. He understood that now, that the captain actually made it easier to rescue the first mate. He raised his spy glass and looked through it once more. "You should really see how the captain is fairing." He teased casually, a light smirk playing on his lips.

You can die anytime...

Cordelia nodded at his words. He was right about a lot of things, she admitted. She nodded again about checking on Andrew. She went up onto the deck, wondering if he was doing alright. She approached him and gently patted his back, "You've been at the wheel for a long time." She said gently,"Why not take a break? I can take over for a little while so you can get some rest." She couldn't help but worry about him a little bit.

Cross smirked lightly as he watched Cordelia take her leave, and head up the deck where the captain was standing.

Andrew blinked when he felt the pat, and quickly glanced at his first mate as if somewhat surprised. He hadn't really been in his right mind since diving into the ocean, but it was probably normal. After all, he hadn't stopped to rest since getting away from the storm. "..Are you sure?" He asked her, just as concerned for her as she was for him. "You're okay?" He asked.

You can die anytime...

Cordelia nodded,"Of course." She said gently,"You worked really hard helping me get back to safety... You really should get some rest. You are our captain and we will need you once we get a decent crew up and going." She looked back out at the sea,"If not me, maybe Cross could take over steering the ship for a while. But one of us should so you can get some rest."

Andrew offered her a small smile and lightly placed a hand on her cheek. "I'd go to the ends of the earth for you, Del." Whether he meant it romantically or not, he'd let her play with for a while. He cared for her very much, even if it he wasn't being romantic. She was his best friend. Nothing would ever keep him from running to her, if she needed him. He nodded lightly and pointed to the compass nailed down near the wheel. "I trust you to steer her until I get back, just keep the ship sailing Northeast until you see a dock. Unless, you know, rocks or something come up.. but I'm sure Cross will keep an eye out for you." He told her, before kissing her cheek and giving a light wave before heading below deck to rest a bit.

You can die anytime...

Cordelia nodded, letting him go down and rest while she took over steering the ship. It wasn't as hard as she thought it would be, although she did have a few moments of fear and apprehension go through her. It helped that if she needed she could call Cross to help, but she didn't want to have to. She didn't want to be a lousy first mate, as this was something she had always wanted to do.

Just at dusk, the island started coming into view. "Not too much longer now." She said to herself with a smile, gently steering the ship through the water, a light breeze pushing them along.

Andrew woke up around the time the sun started going down, and he wasn't feeling too great. His head was pounding and he had a hard time getting up, so he just laid there. He wondered if they had docked or if Cordelia was alright on the deck with Cross.

Cordelia had Cross take over steering the ship as she went to go check on Andrew. She gently knocked on his door,"Andrew..? You alright?" She asked, poking her head inside. She frowned, noticing he seemed a bit pale and feverish,"Oh dear..." She murmured

Cross was happy to fill in for the first mate, also worried about the captain. He would be surprised if the young captain had gotten sick. It was common for new members or crew captains to get sick of they weren't used to sailing, and h is stunt earlier wouldn't help..

Andrew slowly sat up when he heard the knock. "You don't have to knock, Del." He said casually. "I'm fine.. No need for that face. "

"Andrew..." Cordelia said firmly, waking into the room,"You are pale, you are sweating bullets..." She gently felt his forehead,"Just like I thought...You are sick." She gently pushed him back down in his bed,"You rest until we can get a doctor. I'm sure we aren't too much further from land. Hopefully there is one when we get there."

Cordelia nodded,"We are, slowly but surely." She said gently,"Now you stay in bed and you rest until we get there. Got that? First Mate's orders." She added with a giggle,"Remember, I'm in charge when you are unable to be. And right now you need to let me so we can get you better and back in charge..."

Andrew chuckled some as she became serious, like she often did when he was being difficult. Like now. He sighed quietly in defeat and shared a smirk with her. "Alright, alright. I'll be a good sick captain and rest while the first mate takes charge." He murmured quietly.

Cordelia smiled and nodded, sitting beside him and gently stroking his forehead with her other hand,"Alright. So just rest....focus on getting better...we'll need you..." she smirked,"Besides, our adventure has only just begun, right?" She continued to stroke his forehead softly, something she had done when he was sick to help him sleep.

Andrew laid down and stared up at the roof of his quarter's, quietly listening to her words as she stroked his forehead. Even now it was still relaxing. Slowly, his eyes slid closed. "Delia.. You remember that song you used to sing for me, when mom and I had a bout..?" He asked quietly , keeping his eyes closed. "Can you sing for me..?" He asked quietly , opening one of his eyes to easily glace at her.

Cordelia smiled softly ,"It's been a long time since I have." She said softly,"But I will if you want." She continued petting on him softly as she started to sing:

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you
Please dont take my sunshine away..."

Andrew opened his other eye and smiled some when she started to sing. No matter what song she sang, the single children's song always put him to sleep, or relaxed him. Either way.. He closed his eyes once more and slowly slipped off to sleep.

Cross was up on the deck, handling the wheel like he had done it before. They had about a half a day before reaching the small island, but they couldn't go any faster unless the wind picked up.
