Forums Role Playing Forsaking the Past
Maddie continued to sleep until she heard the dryer. She wasn't really a heavy sleeper after all. She had open her eyes and listened to the movement of the house. Clint was back. At least he was safe. That's all that really mattered to her, and with that she slowly allowed herself to fall back asleep. A deeper sleep. Hopefully she wouldn't wake again until morning, unless she had a nightmare.
Did he have any lipstick stains on him? He hoped not but he was going to check before bed. What about dinner? He could go without that for now. Bills were first. He read through them and made sure to pay them in full before stuffing them back in the mailbox and dragging himself back inside. The door was locked, the lights were turned off, trash was thrown out, laundry was folded and put away after taking it from the dryer. The house went silent. Clint walked into his bathroom, washed the lipstick of his face and neck then brushed his teeth and headed to bed to sleep.
Maddie woke pretty early the next morning, the sun hadn't even set fully. Another nightmare woke her with a start and she sat up in the bed, sill wrapped with blankets. Was the nightmare a reflection of her past, or her future? That much was uncertain. Their were too many holes in this nightmare. She couldn't make out faces, only fire, and the feeling of having forgotten something. Flames had engulfed a large building, or at least she thought it was a building. She didn't know what building or where it was. She couldn't tell is she was younger or older, but it was definitely her walking out of supposed building. Screams echoed in her ears even as she sat awake in the bed. She was terrified.
When Clint woke up it was pretty early, but he was starving. That's what happened when all you really ate was the small lunch you had. Getting out of bed, he left to shower then got dressed and tossed his clothes in the basket before making his way to the kitchen. He hesitated when he reached Maddie's room but couldn't help it and knocked softly before looking inside. "Mads. you're awake?" He asked her and yawned softly. "Didn't sleep any?" He asked curiously, making his way to the edge of her bed where he sat down. She didn't look like she got any sleep. In fact, she looked scared. "Nightmare." He concluded.
Maddie blinked when heard a knock at her door and glanced at Clint briefly, then lowered her eyes back to the bed. She shook her head some when he spoke and pulled the blankets around herself more. "Fire this time.. I don't know where it when, but I think I caused it.." She murmured quietly while trying not to get too worked up. It hadn't even registered that she was hungry yet, or that she probably needed to eat. She did skip dinner after all. "All I could see was fire.. And hear people screaming.. I can still hear them.."
She had a nightmare about fire? Clint frowned. "Well...maybe it has something to do with Aurelie coming over? Maybe she brought back bad memories or maybe you just hate her so much you want to set fire to the place where she and her people meet and kill them?" Clint suggested. "I mean, after all they've been doing, trying to drag you to their place, tormenting you. Stalking you, shooting at you, drugging you. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to kill them. It was just a bad dream Mads, I wouldn't focus on it too much." He told her calmly. Sometimes our brain had ways of expression our emotions in a dream. It would give us the satisfaction we couldn't have in reality, if only for a short while.
Was it just a dream though? Or another godmother twisted visons? Well, she really couldn't tell the difference, and dwelling on it wouldn't be good either. Not for her anxiety or her sanity. Maddie breathed a sigh sighed and nodded lightly to his words after calming down some. "Our minds are funny that way, aren't they?" She asked curiously, not really looking for an answer. She glanced at him. "I'm guessing neither of us had dinner?" She asked, tilting her head some.
"Nope. I got home, put my laundry away, went to bed. So I'm pretty hungry right now. Was going to make breakfast but wanted to check up on you first. Oh and bills. Took care of those too. I'll call you when breakfast is ready alright? And don't worry about that dream, I hope you can get a better night's sleep tonight." Clint said to her. He hoped that Maddie didn't want to talk about his time yesterday because then he'd have to lie, and he didn't want to lie to her. She didn't deserve that at all. You could just tell her the truth. This was true, but he didn't know how she'd react to it. It wasn't like they were dating but it was just...it wasn't a good thing to kiss your ex willingly.
Maddie quietly listened, and nodded lightly at the end. "Yeah, okay." She said casually. She figured he didn't eat, but neither had she so.. They were even? She wondered curiously. He hadn't mentioned last night, so clearly he didn't want to talk about it. That was fine. She was glad that he managed to get some stuff done before going to bed though, that was a plus. She thought so anyway. He told her not to worry about about the dream, and she nodded in small thanks.
Clint headed to the kitchen where he started getting everything he'd need ready to use. He even started on making himself some coffee, he'd need it. While he busied himself in focusing on cooking, he was also glad that she hadn't mentioned yesterday to him at all. Thank god. He thought to himself. A busy day was just what he needed in order to distract himself. But...he knew he'd have to make a choice eventually. He broke up with her for a reason and now she was trying to worm her way back into his heart. Was it working? No. Well...maybe? Wait, no! Not at all, no! It's over, we're done and there's no going back Clint. You moved on! Right, he had to stay true to himself.
Maddie curiously watched him walk out of her room and head to the kitchen. Something was definitely troubling him, and though she was curious, she wasn't going to try and push him. Why do I have a feeling it's because of last night? She thought, only concerned. Had it been a bad idea to convince him to go out? She was starting to think so, and feel kind a bad about it. For the time being, Maddie picked up the book and started reading. Hopefully she could focus on the events happening inside the book, and not the ones happening around her.
Clint had set the table and made sure to pour her a glass of water since that was she always seemed to drink. He had made them each an omelette with spinach and egg whites. Some salt and pepper for taste. Despite everything, he had fun yesterday. It was nice being able to catch up with friends, especially since they didn't do it so often. After getting the table set and serving the breakfast, he announced that breakfast was ready and started pouring himself his coffee to start the day.
Maddie was off in her own little world while she read. She was at a part that was a plot twister and she loved it! One of the girl's classmates, who she was falling for, turned out to be a wolf. Not a werewolf, a wolf, and tried attacking her. She was saved of course, by the headmaster of this magic school. By that time, she heard Clint and set the book down before unwrapping herself and sliding off the bed. She joined him at the table and glanced at the omelette briefly, then quietly thanked him and cut a piece of the egg with her fork and took a bite. Wow! "How do you make everything so tasty?" She asked curiously .
"Magic of freakin' Macy's mads.." he muttered then shook his head and sat down. "Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet." He told her and took a sip. "Ahh, better. To answer your question, I just call upon the gods of cooking to bless me with their magical cooking powers and bam!, perfect food every time." Clint answered with a laugh. Oh man, it felt good to joke around like this. Just be a total goof again and be comfortable in doing that. "Salt and pepper though. That stuff makes a world of difference. I personally love pepper so I use it on pretty much all foods. Even on mac and cheese. Yep, I said it. I put pepper on mac and cheese and I like it." He said with a smirk.
((five minutes of laughing my butt off after reading it xD ))
Maddie raised an eyebrow at his comment, then smirked when he seemed to respond differently after taking a drink from his coffee. No matter how hard she tried not to, she laughed when he laughed shook her head lightly when the laughter died down. Only he would say something like that, first thing in the morning! Salt and pepper, that was it? "Well it certainly works." She said casually as she took another bite off her fork.

((omg I made you laugh for real? xD Yay!))
"Well that, and Spinach is just really good alone so yeah. That adds some flavor to the product. Ever have raw spinach? It's amazing. I wasn't sure if I should use the egg yolk as well but I figured it would be much healthier without it. I'm glad you seem to like it." Clint commented, seeing how she took another bite. Or maybe she was just really hungry like he was. "At least I'm eating an actual breakfast this time instead of just a bagel before work." he stated quietly to himself. And this was much healthier and more filling than a bagel was.

Maddie tilted her head some. Raw spinach? She shook her head. "Sadly, no." She answered casually, taking a sip of her water. "But you are right in saying egg white is healthier. Some yolk is good for you though." She said before continuing to eat her omelette. Maddie smirked when she caught his comment and simply pretended not to hear it at all.
Speaking of work, what time was it? He glanced at the clock on the wall, he still had plenty of time before he had to leave so he had plenty of time to get ready still. "Oh, well, it's really good. Raw broccoli is really good too." So were carrots, but he wasn't going to go off on a ramble about vegetables and how good they were. That sounded like something his mother would do when he was a kid. "Some yolk yeah. But some people just eat it too much." He shuddered at the thought then took another bite of his food.
Maddie blinked and giggled. Taking a sip of her water and finishing the rest of her omelette. "That's true, but some people eat too much of something or another." She said with a light shrug. It was still nice to just sit and talk like this again, only now she didn't had to run off to avoid being caught by a teacher or something.
"Ehhh that's true, I'll give you that point. I've yet to meet anyone who eats a balance of everything." He said, taking another bite of his food and thinking for a bit before looking at her and drinking some coffee. "So umm...what kind of movie would you like to watch? Horror is off limits." He told her, giving her a knowing smile. After the nightmare she had, he didn't think a horror movie would be a good choice.
