"That could also be a product of his environment." Lindsay countered.

"He'd always taken to Kitt, and Kitt was a very patient babysitter." he said further.

"Maybe he's just fascinated by felines." he shrugged.

"Regardless, I would tend to think that if he were to have any physical feline traits, he'd already be showing them by now." he then reasoned.

"...but this IS mana we're talking about." he mumbled.

"Mana can act however it wants, it seems."

"Very true." Lindsay responded.

"They may end up with no mana at all." he said.

"Which will present some new challenges entirely." he went on.

"All we can do is wait and see." he shrugged, as they heard water running upstairs.

"Guess that'll be Evan." he said.

"We really should do something about his little 'hunts' for his sister." he sighed.

Lindsay chuckled in response to the deal.

"We'll see how well he holds up." he said.

"And I hope they have mana as well." he told her.

"Non-mage children of mages can have very challenging lives." he commented with a sigh.

"But all we can do is wait and see what happens." he lamented with a shake of his head. "Seeing as a test or scan will yield either no results or very vague results." he added.

"I also heard him grumbling about homework." he went on.

"Is it still his science grade that's slipping? Or something else?" he asked.

They'd discovered earlier that Evan's science grades had been slipping, but with some one-on-one tutoring and extra time, they'd managed to get it up to snuff.

"Hm." Lindsay muttered.

"Maybe we can help him." he said.

"Do you want to, or shall I?" he asked.

"We're both more than capable of it, but I know he's taken to you more than I." he told her. "On the other hand, your days have already been so busy, perhaps you could use some time to yourself." he then countered.

"How long has it been since you really had time to work on anything?" he asked.

Lindsay just smiled softly, and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Heh." he chuckled.

"Our kids are lucky to have a mother such as yourself." he told her.

"But all right then." he said.

"Tell you what, why don't I take care of dinner, then?" he suggested.

"Lighten some of the load on your shoulders, and you can focus on helping Evan more." he reasoned.

Lindsay thought for a moment, and then shrugged in response.

"That works, too." he said.

"I mean, I can make a homemade pizza, though." he offered.

"But it depends on if you think there's time, or what you think the kids would prefer." he went on.

"If ordering in would be better all around, I'll do that." he continued.

Lindsay chuckled in response.

"Yup." he replied.

"Can't have it any other way." he told her.

"I actually made up some of the dough earlier, thinking of making it... well... just because. But dinner is the perfect excuse." he explained.

"But yeah, Ash's recipe." he confirmed.

Lindsay nodded in response.

"I'll get to it." he said.

"Go and help Evan." he told her.

"He'll put off doing his math homework by stalling in the tub, probably." he said further.

"I'll call up when it's done." he went on.

"...but odds are the scent will do that before me." he laughed.

Evan was silent for a moment, growling to himself. He then looked at his sister, and sighed.

"My head." he said.

"I have a really big headache." he told her.

"Head feels almost ready to explode." he went on.

"And my back hurts, too." he said further, gesturing to his tailbone.

"It feels... like... I dunno... cramped and like there's a lot of pressure."

"Ngh." Evan grunted in response to what she said.

"Y-yeah." he stammered.

"I guess you're right." he said.

"What... what do you think is better?" he asked her.

"Should... I go to the nurse, or home?" he asked further.

He was then silent, before grasping at his head again.
