"It's all right, I understand." Lindsay replied.

He then launched into an explanation of what happened. Everything he knew. His genes kicking in, what happened to Sammy, he didn't spare a detail.

"So what do you think?" he asked.

"Is there anything we can do here?"

"Anything you can do for us would be appreciated." Lindsay responded.

"This situation is not fair to Samantha." he said. "The fact that she's not allowed to appeal her case, or even bargain for some sort of deal is unfair." he went on.

"It makes me wonder if something else motivated this decision, but I cannot really say, without sounding paranoid." he lamented with a sigh.

"So... anything you can find, or any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated." he continued.

"I don't want this to just be a bitter pill she has to swallow..." he added, trailing off at the end.

Lindsay just sighed in response.

"I know." he replied.

"I really don't like that some think that children inherit the sins of their parents." he said.

"Or... well... not exactly parents, but down the line." he clarified.

"Regardless, thanks in advance for the assistance." he told her. "Please let me know as soon as you find anything out." he said further.

"Thanks again, Kalin." Lindsay said.

"And you do what you need to do." he told her.

"I'll talk to you later." he finished.

With that, they said their goodbyes, and the call was ended. When it was, Lindsay just sighed again, and lightly tossed his phone to the side.

"....hm." he mumbled with a sigh.

"I hate not being able to do anything." he growled, shaking his head.

Lindsay had been standing by a window, staring outside when Casey approached him.

"....none." he admitted.

"She's normally not gone this long." he commented.

"I know she's still angry about the track incident, understandably so, but she's never been out for longer than she says she'll be." he went on.

"Or, she calls to let us know, at least." he said further.

"I'm getting concerned." he admitted with a worried sigh.

Again, Lindsay sighed.

"I..." he stammered.

"Many." he said.

"And they all race about and conflict with each other." he lamented.

"It's possible she just wants to be left alone, but she would tell us that if that were the case. It could be a case of typical teenage attitude coming into play, but she's NOT like the typical teen." he went on.

"Should I search for her, or am I being too concerned? Overprotective." he asked further.

"Where would I even start? Should we scry? Do we respect her privacy?" he continued, his hands clenching into fists.

"My parental mind and my psychologist mind are at war with each other, essentially."

"That sounded like it hurt her." she heard a voice say.

"So?" another asked.

"I thought we weren't going to-" the first started to ask, but a third voice spoke up.

"Shut it!" they snapped.

"Whatever happens, happens." they said sharply.

"Indeed." the first voice agreed. "Remember who she is... WHAT she is." they said further. "It doesn't matter what happens to her."

"This still seems like a bit much." the second voice commented.

"Too late now." one of the voices responded.

"You get soft, you're just as bad as her." another told them.

"All right, all right, I get it!" the uneasy voice exclaimed in protest.

"Good." another one responded.

"Now then..." they muttered, before Sammy felt some ice-cold water splashed all over her. And given that her father's genes were starting to kick in within her, it did NOT feel pleasant in the slightest.

"Like you deserve answers." the voice responded.

"We never liked you in school." they said.

"But you just HAD to take it a step further, and try and use your mana to get ahead." they went on.

"Well, no more." they said further.

"We're taking matters into our OWN hands now."

Her question was met with yet another ice cold water splash.

"You KNOW." the voice snapped.

"Damned Fyrane." they said.

"And you're a freak, to boot." they went on.

"Both you AND your brother." they hissed further.
