"Hmm." he muttered.

"Gab..." he then said, addressing her.

"You know about the world, right?" he asked.

"Which is to say, the 'truth'?" he clarified, using finger quotes.

"Yeah, I do. Have to." She commented.

"I'm a conduit. Albeit, super weak." She added with a light sigh.

"Barely classified as one, but I am. Why do you ask?" She asked, her voice curious.

"I... might be able to get you a job." he responded.

"If I recall correctly, the R&D department has requested a secretary/receptionist for their area." he told her.

"They need the organization and such. It's just getting to be too much for them." he continued.

"Seeing as you have the experience, and fulfil other criteria, you may be able to get a job there." he reasoned.

"I can talk to my boss about it." he then offered.

"If you can get a resume done up, I can deliver it myself." he told her.

"See if we can't fast-track you to an interview, at least." he reasoned.

"That doable?" he asked.

"Or do you need more time?"

She paused.

". . . got time to come back to my shoebox with me?" She asked.

"I actually have a bunch printed off in a binder at home. Just don't have any on hand at the moment." She added with a light chuckle, and a slightly embarrassed sound to it. It honestly seemed like she was a bit ashamed of being caught without, as she was job hunting.

Azazel just laughed a little.

"It's cool." he said.

"I got the time." he told her.

"We can head back whenever you want to." he said further.

"How much savings do you have?" he then asked.

"How long can you survive without a job?"

"I... good question." Was the answer her received.

"I'm not entirely sure. Depends on how pricing is, here in the city." She continued.

"I would... guess a month? Maybe?" She asked, knowing he couldn't answer that.

"Point is, not much. We can head to that shoebox after we're finished here then. I'm only a couple blocks away."

"All right." Azazel replied.

They then spent the next 10 minutes or so chatting and eating, before they finished and put their garbage away.

"Cool." he said as they left.

"Let's head to your apartment." he told her.

"I'll take your resume and give it to my boss."

"Sounds good." Was all she said before they headed out.

Sure enough, her apartment was a shoebox. It was barely large enough for a kitchen and a bathroom, and it was almost a bit apalling.

"The sooner I move, the better, if I'm being honest. Thankfully, I'm on a month-to-month." She added as they stepped inside and she made her way over to one of the closer corners. She opened a cupboard and retrieved a binder, which she withdrew a stapled couple pages from.

"Here you go." She said, handing it to him. When he took it, he saw that it was a cover letter and her resume. Two pages, stapled together for ease.

Azazel looked at it, scanned it, and nodded.

"Right." he said.

"I'll get this to him ASAP." he told her.

"...and yes, this place is... not... I mean..." he stammered further, before sighing.

"Yeah, this place is... well, it's better than being homeless." he commented.

"I at least hope the landlord or landlady is all right." he added.

'Eh, they're all right." She said simply.

"it's ... well, they're largely not around." She adde.d "Which isn't a huge issue to me."

"Beyond that, it's a plkace to live. And it's cheap. So I really can't complain."

"Well, let's see if we can't improve this situation." Azazel replied.

"I'll head to work right now and drop this off." he told her.

"Hopefully you'll get a call soon." he went on, before pausing.

"Ah..." he stammered.

"I assume you DO have a phone, yes?" he asked, looking at the papers again.

He wasn't sure if he'd seen a phone number in her contact info or not.

"Number is on my resume." She added after a few seconds.

". . . and thank you. Sincerely." She said, a soft smile to her voice, and face.

Less than a week later, she stepped into the entryway with a smile.

"Hello." she said, approaching the desk that was there.

"Gabrielle Burton to meet with a Mr. Sharp." She introduced herself.

The one behind the newspaper was silent and still for a moment, before she swore she heard a snake in the area. However, before she could say anything, the security guard placed the paper to the side, and grabbed a clipboard.

"...Burton... Burton..." he mumbled.

"Ah, here is it." he said.

He then looked right at her, almost staring into her eyes.

"I.D. please." he told her.

"Need to verify who you are."

Gabrielle nodded before digging her ID out of her wallet, and handing it over.

"Not a problem." She said with a light smile.

"Admittedly, I do need to get a valid ID for this state, still. I do hope that won't be an issue."

The man just sighed and checked the I.D.

"Well, it's not expired." he said.

"So, good enough." he went on.

"Anyway, you're the one that Az scouted, yeah?" he asked.

She nodded in response.

"I'll get him to escort you to Agent Sharp, then." he told her, before calling Azazel to the security over the P.A. system.

"New to the city, huh?" he asked her, making small talk until the demon arrived.

"Moved here because I heard there was a decent job market." She added with a light laugh.

"How is the city? I ahven't been here long, so I'd love ot hear from someone who lives here."

"Lotta nice places hidden away that are quiet and such." he told her.

"Just gotta look around until you find an area that suits you." he finished, as Azazel showed up.

"Heya." he greeted her.

"anyway, Thanks, I'm sure I'll see you on my way out." With that, she made her way to Azazel.
