"Aedan? Yeah." he said.

"She was in the den doing some gaming." he told her.

"Seemed just fine to me." he shrugged.

"....and yes, I need to be vigilant here." he agreed.

"This might be nothing, this might be a disaster." he sighed.

"I just... it seemed to just come out of nowhere, Anya." he added, looking into her eyes.

"all you can do is just push through it." She added.

"I really wish I could do something, anything, to help though." She said.

"Just being here to talk to helps." he told her.

"Someone I can share this with, and they know what I'm talking about." he went on.

"And can offer advice from a demonic standpoint." he continued.

"It helps so much." he assured her.

"But... you be careful, too." he reiterated.

"Who knows if this thing will strike again, and towards WHO."

"I know. Trust me, with this knowledge I will most certainly be paying attention to what the hell crosses my mind for the next bit." Anya assured him.

"I don't think it'll be anything serious, but I don't know. Those damned shadows like to haunt people they've toyed with before, and that means both of us are at risk if they're back." She continued.

"Hell, I think that's the only way you can meet them. Purely through association. They hautn who they've fucked with in the past, and those that are being haunted drag others into it." She paused.

".... I really hope Jake comes out all right if they ARE haunting us again."

Azazel paused when she said this.

"...oh..." he muttered.

"Oh dear, you're right." he said.

"And he... he actually NEEDS sleep." he told her.

"We don't. That, alone, makes us a little more equipped to deal with them." he went on.

"They can potentially trap people in a nigh-perpetual nightmare." he continued.

"Yeah, paying close attention to Jake might be best." he finished, as their food arrived and the server asked if they wanted anything else. When they both said no, the person left.

"Sorry to... put such a damper on things JUST as the food arrives." Azazel apologised.

"You have nothing to apologise for. If this IS something that we have to deal with, it's better to know in advance, than not." She added with a light sigh.

"I don't know what to make of it all of it for the moment, though." She admittedl.

"I'm really hoping that this isn't anytyhing to be alarmed about."

They then ate their food and finished their drinks, conversing as they did so, with Azazel leaving money at the table to pay for it.

"Thanks for meeting me on such short notice." he told her as they were getting ready to go, putting their coats back on and such.

"I already feel a lot better." he admitted.

"Just being able to tell this to someone was a huge help." he continued.

"And I DO hope we've seen and/or heard the last of this."

Anya just laughed lightly as she slung her bag across her torso again.

"No worries." She stated simply.

"you know I'll go out of my way for you. We've got one hell of a history, and I refuse to throw that away." She added with a light, content, sigh.

"You're one of my best friends Az. Trust me, unless you tell me to fuck off, you ain't getting rid of me." She paused a moment, stretched, and looked to him.

"Keep me in the loop about this shit, will you? I'll do the same to you, as it pertains to both of us. Hell, it's why we stopped seeing each other like we were at the time, to try and protect one another. Just... if it IS back, I want to know."

Azazel nodded in response.

"Of course." he replied.

"And trust me, nothing short of something catastrophic would get me to tell you to scram." he told her.

"Believe me on that." he continued.

"We've gone through too much to have it just... end." he reasoned, a bit of a whimsical and reminiscing tone to his voice.

"But yes, I will definitely keep you in the loop." he said.

"If this happens to me again, or I notice it happening to those around me, you WILL be notified."

"Same to you." She said as they headed for the door, before sighing.

"I'll admit, this is alarming." She admitted as they stepped outside.

"However, I don't think it's something too much for the moment. It's just a memory right now." she continued, "and it doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be anything to worry about. The potential is there though, and I'd be lying if I didnt' say that's a bit scary."

"They can only wait so long before striking again, once they do." he reminded her.

"Assuming... this IS them..." he then muttered.

"Regardless, I think if this happens again in... roughly a month... we may have issues." he continued.

"So I need to note this exact date and such, and keep it in my memory."

She was silent as she stepped into the room.

"hey, Azari, you called for me?" She called out into the empty abyss that was there. It was alarming that it was there, as, as far as she knew, that place was entirely offlimits, but ... she'd been summoned and she knew that she couldn't delay.

Her brother had summoned her, but also knew that he was likely doing it on behalf of the one that they were both there to serve.

There was silence for a moment, before she heard her brother's voice.

"I did." he said.

"Keep going." he told her.

"Do NOT keep me waiting." he then said. "More than you already have." he added.

His voice was calm, but... it was also impatient... cold... harsh.

There had always been a little of that in his voice in the past, as he was generally a very angry and resentful person, but there was compassion in it as well... one that was now completely gone.

And the harshness had grown... to the point where it was evocative of the one that ran things here.

She has destroyed you, Azari. She thought as she approached, stepping into the darkness that surrounded her brother. She didn't know where it was that he was within there, but was willing to bet that it was likely he was deep in the middle.

"I'm here. Where are you?" She asked, trying to ascertain his position in the darkness. However, she wasn't able to. The darkness there was shrouding her natural ability to sense a beings location.

..... this is ominous... she thought

She complied, but as she did... she could feel... something.

Something was more... oppressive than before.

She almost felt like something else was watching her.

Had its eyes on her.

"Heh." Azari then chuckled.

"Yes, it seems you ARE suitable." he commented.

She took a breath before continuing to do as she was told. She wasn't one that would go against orders, as was driven into her. She would only go against somthing if she physiucally couldn't do as was rodered.

"Suitable...?" She asked after a moment, before she as able to stop herself. She knew that questions were usually a bad thing, but she also knew that she was one that could get away a lot more than the average minion.

Granted, she realised that she was also not held in nearly so high a regard as her brother... or even Chris.

That's when she swore she felt someone... or something... touch her.

She looked around abruptly, but nothing was there.

...could she see it even if something WAS there?

But then she KNEW she felt something grasp her shoulders.

"Let it happen." Azari commanded.

"Let it in."

She froze before she felt the panic starting to brew within.

"Azari! What the hell is going o---" She started before feeling something around her hand. Felt almost like hands or claws that were holding her head, holding her in place.

"Az.... Aza---" She started again, before feeling those hands, claws, or whatever they were start to finvade her head, her mind, freezing her in place. She couldn't breathe, couldn't think, couldn't process antyhing.
